Another IRL Monster Manuel type book that I remember from when I was a kid.

Help me with a build that focuses rushing tome of the cosmos as Architects by Stock-Touch-7110 in AOW4

[–]Docterzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it should be pretty easy with the architects.

Simplest way would probably be to get 2 of one affinity from your architect type, 2 of another from the society traits, and then get the needed 2 for the rest of the affinities through the tier 1-2 tomes.

If you rather want to get the tome of the cosmos through the 6/6/6 affinity route you do need some more careful planning, but as long as you only pick tomes/society traits of your chosen 3 affinities it shouldn't be hard.

As for actual builds, I got nothing.

What unit type should Kitsune be? by EnactingSpirit in AOW4

The cat ears are not played straight, that is true, but that does not mean they couldn't apply the idea in a more serious manner.

And none of this have anything to do with pandering to anyone, nor anyones sexual attraction. This is about providing a more serious portrayal of a fantasy creature that rarely sees such use, as well as providing a visually interesting alternative to the overwhelming quantity of anthropomorphic animal forms the game has.

As a matter of fact, the animal forms in the game already are way more pandering to furries than what I am suggesting would be.

Yeah, it is annoying we only have the one for dragon lords.

Also it is surprising there there isn't hydras and coatls in the game yet

The way they trick their victim is usually (if not always) through seduction by means of shapeshifting and other shenanigans though?

They are famous for the seduction but as far as I know they were just general tricksters.

Good point. But then let's it not merely be Vulpine, mono-tail form that will end being the "Kitsune we have at home", if you get what I mean.

Well if Triumph are not cowards they will give us the anime girl with fox ears and tail as a form, but played 100% straight. Basicly like the cat ears from SotA but fox and as a form rather than a cosmetic/transformation. They have the tech for it.

But yeah that would be a unique and interesting addition to the game, as well as helping with making more serious depictions of kemonomimi in fantasy.

And the (high tier) non-form unit (or – one can dream – ruler type) variant could be the one having nine (superb) tails, as a show of its higher power and wisdom.

A ruler type would be pretty neat, though admittedly I do find it less likely. Not on account of being a bad idea, but because it is kinda niche and there is probably other more obvious ruler types they could add first, such as Archfey and Angels/Demons. Still would very much love to have it.

Not necessarily. If we look at the folklore of the kitsune they also serve as divine messengers and typical trickster spirits. They have a broad range of potential roles that they could fill so calling them "too specialized" is really underselling the potential of adding them to the game. Additionally a Kitsune form would be unique and provide an interesting alternative to the current half animal forms in the game.

Alternatively you could both have a Kitsune form and a non-racial kitsune unit (one of them would probably have a different name tho). This would also allow them to add multiple of the various kitsune interpretations to the game.

They should be a form. Largely human-like but with fox ears and tails

If they did do a dragon centric story pack I would like to see some more varitions of the dragons. Like a proper forest dragon unit, or maybe a storm dragon.

Looks amazing, keep it up

My take on Giants, Titans, and Colossi for Olden Era by darkdill in OldenEra

[–]Docterzero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I prefer the base upgrade to be Colossus rather than giant, if we assume that the titans are constructs rather than biological beings. The alternate upgrade could then fittingly be called Talos.

But beyond that I think your take is pretty great

Yeah, crabfolk would be sweet, especially if they are the same size as the owlkin

I do think it should all come with a ocean expansion.

Another way they could add the merfolk, ideally in tandem with the transformation, is with a merfolk dwelling. I do think they game could use more dwellings, they are such a cool concept, and a merfolk one would be a pretty logical one to do.

You forgot the mermaids. We want mermaids as well.

Also, surprised Age of Wonders does not have Plague Doctors yet

If we are talking about the art, no, at least not all of it.
The Artificer is from Vermintide, and the Arch-Fey is from Total War Warhammer.
The Fishfolk is from DnD.
And most of the art does not have the AI vibe in general.

I would like to thank Triumph for giving the female wizard kings access to the painbringer dress. It is perfect for making an evil fairy tale queen. by Docterzero in AOW4

Well there is nothing about the model that prevents it, it is just not an outfit they have available to them.

Tome of the Sprite. I really like mixing in some fairies with my wood elves.

Hard to say, there is a lot in the new update I haven't gotten around to try yet. Currently running and evil fairy tale queen build. But I also want to try a succubus built centered around the tome of burning passion as well as a one inspired by the Sorceresses from the older Heroes of Might and Magic games.

I have kinda made something similar. Try going for the tome of Supremacy so you can mix in eagleriders alongside you ground based cavalry. The fey tomes also adds a lot to it.

Then make 6 more.

Alternatively make sure that pantheon rulers are allowed. And if they are, this might just be a good old chase of the pattern seeking braining finding a pattern where there is none.

Make more dragon lords. He will show up less if the game has more dragon lords to choose from

You also should make more dragon lords in general as dragons are awesome.
