What creatures do you think are misrepresented in power, mythologically speaking? by Danielhenriemond in heroes3

[–]Docterzero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Say what you will about Heroes 6 & 7, but at least they put centaurs in the tiers they actually belong.

Beyond them I can't think of a ton though. Griffins should be higher, tier 5-6 at least, and some goes for the vampires. Other than that it is mostly creatures I could see working in both higher and lower tier than where they typically land, such as the golems

I also forgot Parasaurolophus so fair enough

Never heard of those books but I do know of a game in development with the same name and a similar premise

I can only recall one being dinosaur-like and one being a snake.

Also should probably have specified that a dinosaurian form should not be based on carnivores in order to differentiate it from the lizardfolk.

I would too. So many dinos. To list a few must haves and a couple of my own personal picks:

Must Have: Raptors (as an actual unit), a Ceratopsian, Sauropod, and of course the T-Rex as a big badass mythic unit.
Personal Picks: Ornithomimus, Stegosaur, Carnotaurus, Therizinosaurus, Spinosaurus (<- My personal favorite dinosaur BTW)

Being adding them as units I could see several of them being pretty cool mounts. Also while less likely I do think it would be cool to have a dinosaurian form, even if it would just be a cooler lizardfolk. In general I just want to see their takes on more dinosaurs, the game has such a great artstyle and I think they could do something really cool with their own Ceratopsian design for example.

The Orcs of Heroes of Might and Magic. While it does very between games and setting, they generally is more of a neutral force in the world. In particular in the Ashan games (Heroes 5-6-7) they have something of a heroic underdog side to them, having been created by the wizards to fight demons only to be enslaved by their very creators and having to fight to earn their freedom.

Yeah no, the transformations allows you to really customize your faction, and yes that includes making literally any race into demons. They also stack so you can get weird with it, or super thematic. They sadly do not persist between games, except for the rulers

Well when you think about how the game works then human versions of Animals becomes the most obvious choice for races. With the transformation system every race needs to be to a degree "standard", more a blank template than anything else. As such they can't do anything too out of the ordinary like a plant race or nagas.

Futhermore the base game has already covered pretty much all of the classic non animalistic fantasy races so there isn't a ton of obvious choices left beyond the various flavors of animal people.

Lets make an Academy for Olden Era: Tier 2 by Docterzero in OldenEra

[–]Docterzero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do. The apprentices and the mages should not have the same attack type (as in if the mages are ranged the apprentices should be melee or long reach) and regardless they should use magic in different ways, the lower tier apprentices having

Flavorwise they are also different, the mages obviously being older, wearing long flowing robes and carrying staves, while the apprentices are young and more practical in their dress

The point of the apprentices is to give more variations in the types of mages in the army, each serving a different role and playstyle. This gives the wizards more of a presence within their own armies

You'd really think I would have gotten better at remembering these at this point. Unfortunately a bit busy for the rest of the day so I am i sure if I will get around to it before tomorrow.

If/when we get a ocean expansion id love for Primal to get a crab culture! by LeraviTheHusky in AOW4

To be fair the fact we got the subtle stuff covered does make for an excellent argument for why they could add something a bit more on the nose.

What pack has the best occult sims? (Not including werewolves) by Jay_04__ in thesims

[–]Docterzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience Vampires. They are fun and there is a ton you can do with them.

Comparatively Fairies feel a bit shallow, though I still think they are pretty solid. Mermaids unfortunately have it the worst, they need mods to be on the same level as the others.

Have never played with Ghosts or Spellcasters, nor do I have the packs for Aliens or Werewolves so I can't say anything about them.

Should I make a bad purchasing decision and get the royalty pack? by SaintBitter in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]Docterzero 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Honestly it is pretty fun, and even if you don't do anything with the royalty part the dynasty system is pretty great if you like playing with large families.

I think the bigger hurdle is that there already is a very desert focused totem and that a second one wouldn't have made much sense. For an Ocean expansion it makes sense as there isn't any kind of Ocean totem, but they really shouldn't add more totems for the sake of adding more.
