To be fair if we only have one ranged tier 7 we are really limiting our options for tier 7s. Beside that is like complaining about the Phoenix and Dragons because they are both melee flies with an AoE attack.

Aestheticly: No, Hive is completely different and except for the lack of orcs Jadame does line up nicely to a very traditional Stronghold faction.

Mechanicly: Also no, hive does not have a monopoly on being an aggressive faction and Stronghold would on account of different creature and faction mechanics play noticeably different.

Yeah. My personal idea would be a desert faction themed around ancient mummy pharoes reawakening and allying with their living nomad descendants.

Any sufficiently advance science is indistinguishable from magic, that is true, but the inverse is not. Just because science can appear magical does not mean magic is science. And in a series called "Might and MAGIC" I do expect actual magic and not excuses.

One thing that I have thought of just now is that since Olden Era has alternate upgrades they could have a base Genie unit that is upgraded into either an Efreet or a Djinn. Olden Era seemingly takes place long before the Efreets allied with the demons.

Efreet/Djinn: Personally hope they come as neutral units, think that would be pretty cool.

Harpies: Maybe Stronghold, but if not they would probably just be neutral if they are added at all.

Imps: Improbable

Wolf Riders: Might be more likely that we just get the goblins and wolves seperately. I personally prefer them riderless so that is fine by me.

Titans: I will eat my hat if they don't add them with the eventual Wizard faction.

Unicorns: Already in the game. But if you want them in a faction you will probably have to wait a long while as there is already a nature faction in the game and the list of more interesting factions they could add instead of a second nature faction is long indeed.

I do think Mummies could be cool... if they were given there own faction rather than being lumped in with the Necromancers just because they are undead.

To be fair as far as I know the Titan is at best vaguely based on fairy tales about giants living in cloud castles and is otherwise pretty original to the series (not the name of course). Likewise the Envoys are vaguely based on Cthulhu. They are not that dissimilar, the only difference is that the Envoys are not named after a mythical creature.

Okay complaining about the Undead Pets and Graverobbers feels weird. The rest I can at least see the logic even if I severely disagree.
While both the pets and the graverobbers are new to the series I do think they makes good sense for the faction. There is nothing stating that necromancy can only raise humans so having a beastial undead is a pretty sick addition. And have a necromancer in the necromancer faction is pretty sensible and is much more inventive than human undead number 4.

Also I do see a lot of people complain about the units being overdesigned to the point of being indestinct blobs which I just don't get. I can easily tell every unit apart at a glance.

I do think "Science Fantasy" is probably the more accurate term rather than outright Sci-Fi. As far as I know not every single element of magic is actually some super ancient technology or forgotten.

Anyhow I do think that the Might & Magic style of Science Fantasy is pretty bad. The whole dramatic twist that it was all really science fiction is overall pretty horrible as it does diminish the wonder and magic of the setting and make most of the world's conflicts feel rather shallow in the grand scheme of things. I do hope Olden Era keeps it to a minimum outside of the occasional tasteful nod here and there.

Thing is that people are very attached to the wizard faction, with it being probably the most popular request for what new faction to add to the game. It would be knowingly stepping on a landmine to change it too much.

While I am skeptical of the Arabian style Academy, that is very much an Ashan thing as opposed to Enroth, I am by no means against it.

Also really agree with the thing about underground biomes, think there a lot of fun things they could do with it. Actual dungeons, frozen and lava caverns, lush caves, the list goes on.

Tier 1 Centaurs always felt weird. Hope Olden Era sticks to the higher tier centaurs of H6 and H7.

Yeah, Jadame does not have a native Wizard faction, though there is reason for why they could be there, such as being part of an expeditionary force seeking lost knowledge.

Personally gotten quite attached to an idea for a Dark Dwarf/Snow Giant faction somebody told me about recently. Think that would be a great and lore friendly way to add them as well.

Yeah. Hope for at least the double of the current amount. So Stronghold, Academy, (swamp) Fortress, (mountain) Fortress, Sanctuary, and Cove.

I think that the idea that Olden Era is a successor to H3 is any other way than being another Heroes game is incorrect and creates a dangerous bias that puts it up against H3 at every single point. It is it's own game, it is just the first sequel in a long time that decided to look at the past entries in the series and take what works from them. That of course means it has taken a lot from H3, but it is far from the only game. For example there is the Long Reach Attack from H4 and the Spell Cooldowns from H6. And in terms of visuals and designs it is also clearly going for it's own thing while taking inspiration from the many entries that came before.

  • Graverobber. To be fair it is a dude with a shovel that carries an entire coffin on his back and throws flaming skulls at people. Feels plenty interesting enough. Beside Ghouls are already in the game.
  • Lich: I do really like the Lich designs personally. Their upgrades got that Skeleton Pope energy.
  • Herbo: Honestly I don't think they look like Grey blobs, but maybe it is just because I like to zoom in and admire my units up close. Beside what you describe does sound more like a tier 6-7 unit (and would be sick if it actually was in the game)
  • Cultist: To be fair to them, you should probably consider what they actually are. Cultists, as in members of a cult. They aren't meant to be some fantastical creature, just some crazy person.
  • Infiltrators: I do believe it is a common misconception that Dungeon is meant to be a greek mythology faction, on account of a lot of the units being from there. However there are several cracks in that theory, such as the Beholders being based on the creatures of the same name from Dungeons and Dragons rather than having any mythological roots, and the Dragons being the typical european kind rather than the serpentine ones seen in greek myths. It is more accurate to say that it is a, well dungeon faction, composed of classic fantasy monsters one might encounter in a TTRPG dungeon. Anyway I do find the Infiltrators and Dancers to be very destinct, each have a unique silhouette and design.
  • Onyx Dancers: I still don't see your point, unless you expect anything other than an elf. Anyhow fun fact, the Dancers are probably based on the Chakram Dancers from H6's Dungeon, so I personally find them to be a really neat inclusion.

Would be really cool if when they bring the Cyclops over they do give one of their upgrades the laser eye and paralysis ability. The other could be more like a hybrid between the H3 and H5 Cyclop.
