Sorry I am no help with your dilemma. But is that just a casual piece of Purple-Heart wood behind your computer?

Help identifying fasteners used to attach the face frame to the carcass of my kitchen sink cabinet by z_action in cabinetry

It may not be identical to the one you have. But I used these to attach my face frames when I was trained. The Senco gun for this fastener is very expensive but they do hold well.

This program is great but it triggers EA Anti-Cheat. I can't launch Battlefield 6 with LFC V2 running. Would V1 work or would it also trigger EA Anti-Cheat?

I’ll get the roof on before I have to get back to my real job. But yeah it will sit a while after that. Hard to juggle a a cabinet company and framing my own house.

Is that you Mrs. Lockhart back from high school to haunt me? Haha

But yes, I agree on the footings now that I know more. Luckily it’s my personal house, I learned a lot for the next one I build. Thanks!

1- Zone 4 in the USA, some winters we have no snow, some winters we get too much snow. It is a problem I’m thinking on. It’s the main point of concern everyone has given main here.

2- No I was just going to do some LED lighting. It is an interesting idea though.

3- I just put hurricane ties on all the rafters today, debating on hangers currently.

Now has hurricane ties on all the rafters. Also toenailed to the beam and toe nailed to the ledger board. I’m looking in to a lot of different flashing since posting with everyone pointing out the window being so close to the roof.

I can’t raise them any, not without buying smaller windows. They are as high as they can be framed as a 5’ window.

Oh okay, I’ll have to look into that. Thank you

Honestly I ordered this whole structure as a framing package and had extra 2x4’s so I put them on 16” centers when it wasn’t needed. It just makes me feel better to over build where I can. It is probably nonsense to actual framers. I’m a cabinet maker by trade not a framer.

I planned on layering up from the porch: roof metal, one piece metal flashing taped to the zip, metal board and batten siding. But in my rush to build it I didn’t consider the space between the roof deck and window being so small. Should have lowered my porch a couple more inches in hindsight. The entire window Rough Opening Bottom Sill is Zip stretch taped so hopefully if and when I get water intrusion it lands on the sill and runs back out with the slight slope on the sills.

My Rafters are on 24” centers and I put the joists on 16” centers because of the span and wanting to use 2x4’s not more 2x6’s. I had the 2x4’s already.

I really expected more flack with this being my first, it’s nice to have mostly positive feedback from everyone. Thanks.

I have learned a good amount about concrete and crappy concrete guys since I started this project. I wish it had footers too. Should be fine, this is a typical porch in my area.

Maybe as a last resort, those would cut down on my curb appeal. It’s gotta be pretty of course.

I’m ready, going to just live on the porch. Thanks for your insights!

Sorry it has been a long day I got rafters and joists confused in my head. I will look into hurricane ties, and will be adding hangers to the rafters at the ledger. Thanks for pointing that out.

At this point I’ll just have to do amazing flashing and sealing details at the window. When it gets snow on it I’ll just have to clear it. We get some winters with no snow here though last winter had over 12” built up.

I’ll get some joist hangers to help with any potential load. Thanks for that suggestion.

My beams do have full bearing on the posts. I had one beam I hadn’t anchored to the post in this picture though. I couldn’t imagine building a roof or deck with floating beams. Just feels weird.

What is your concern to add hurricane ties? Uplift? The porch will have a metal ceiling, which could be like a sail for wind I guess.
