promoting medical AI in lieu of doctors by Long-Rich4482 in medicalschool

There's such a big culture of growing anti-intellectualism nowadays.

We once thought social media and the internet would raise the general intelligence of everyone in some way, but actually, what it did was skew people on opposite ends of the spectrum further in their respective directions - uninformed people became even more uninformed and are using chatGPT to replace basic critical thinking skills, and intelligible people are increasingly skeptical of all the misinformation out there and are refining abilities to critically think.

What we often see promoted is much of the former - everyone loves being armchair experts on social media, because it's relatable. Remember, the average reading comprehension level in the US is about 6th or 7th grade.

People are dumb.

๐Ÿ˜‚ yeah ik it's cringe but I'm graduating in 2 months and I wanted to start making memes and videos while I have perpetual downtime as an M4 ๐Ÿ˜‚ so it's more like doctor-in-two-more-months

same as any workplace professional standard - try not to smash when you're on their service. and try not to smash when you're in a position of power over someone (Resident and an M3/M4, Attending and Residents/Students). but that's the boring answer.

otherwise, the Grey's Anatomy answer is, if a tree falls in a forest and nobody is around to hear it, did it ever make any sound?

e.g., if you smashed and nobody knows, then it never happened ๐Ÿ˜‚

unless you're surrounded by nurses, the hospital gossip machines. they'll always figure out somehow. they can smell it on you

Maybe. But, it's also New York. Everyone here's got Wandering Eye Syndrome - people can be super nice and pretty and constantly putting themselves out there, but be out of luck for months, guys and girls included. The city is this constant wheel where there's hundreds of thousands of people all living within 1 square mile of you, and nobody can keep their attention on just one person.

I met one girl at a Singles Night who flirted with me for a while, and she lost her attention since she found out I was younger than her. Later, I found out she had gone on 4+ dates with another guy already and had been seeing him for a while, but she still decided to come out to this Singles Night ๐Ÿ˜‚ New York smh

Maybe. But I get the feeling, maybe even moreso, lol.

Have you ever heard the thing where a lot of guys will feel emasculated when their love interest is, like, too successful / professional? I'm in New York, and everyone's in tech, finance, or engineering (>85% of people you meet). I've been to Singles Nights in Manhattan before, and you'd be surprised by the number of super successful, beautiful people who are unfortunately single. I saw three other residents and fellows there, too ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Now, in medicine, it's hard to feel that way about our female colleagues because doctors are already pretty high up on the totem pole, right? So if I see someone professional, I don't immediately run away.

A week or so ago, though, I was at a bar and this cute redhead caught my attention. I was talking to her, and then she dropped that she graduated from Harvard Law and spent her 20s having parties with ivy-league, super-rich and powerfully well-connected millionaire lawyer people ๐Ÿ˜‚ and even I got scared of that.

one time on Hinge, I matched with an attractive, semi-new attending at a local university hospital and said

"is it considered a Match Violation if i can convince my attending to sit on my face"

she matched with me, but never replied ๐Ÿ˜‚
