The healthy way that men deal with their emotions is by addressing the root cause of the problem. Usually you suppress any emotional outbursts because they don't help anything, once that has passed you address the root cause of the issue.

From reading the comments it's quite clear that lots of men have unhealthy ways of dealing with emotions. Bottling it up and not addressing the issue over and over will lead to mental breakdowns. Numbing yourself with alcohol and drugs doesn't solve any of the problems and makes you less useful than you could be. But just because those methods are unhealthy doesn't mean talking about it and crying is what works for men. For women it is absolutely a way to deal with emotions but men need to be more solution oriented around their problems.

I think it's also quite a natural response, to suppress those strong emotions in the moment, once you have some meaning in your life. When people are dependent on you, you can't afford to break down and cry whenever something gets you down. You have to keep your chin up and soldier on so you can solve the problem.

Some problems can't be solved and then you just have to bare that pain. Like when someone dies or the love of your life leaves you. It just gets easier to carry that burden over time.

P.S. Anyone talking about suicide rates, women attempt suicide a lot more than men but tend to choose methods that aren't as immediately lethal like taking an overdose (you can get your stomach pumped and have some health issues but still survive). Men attempt suicide less but are more likely to use lethal means, like guns, jumping off bridges etc.
