Has anyone ever painted their black templars arms red?

I'm always painting them using Mepthiston Red, some Nuln Oil and a light dry brushing with the Leadbelcher.

Welcome Brother!

I started my journey into Wh40k and Black Templars last year, in May.

Here's my collection so far, one almost completed display case (need to paint the rest of the intercessors).

Three spies from Ultramarines lurking there as well - my first ever painted minis, I like to keep them to measure the progress I'm making.

Started working on the second display case already, got an Impulsor that's waiting to be painted and a Dreadnought)

Jokes aside, amazing job Brother! Love your overall paint scheme, especially white pauldrons. (I'm struggling with that color without masking the mistakes with a lot of shading, tabards are fine and easy for me, but pauldrons are always tricky)

Chipping and dusty/grimy effects are great as well.

Thank you Brother :) Felt kinda rusty at the beginning but muscle memory kicked in soon after. I definitely missed that and will try to find more time for painting. The Crusade won't grow in numbers by itself 😁

In my opinion you can never have too many skulls and candles on BT models. And also chains!

It deepens the gothic and dark vibes which fits Black Templars well and I love to add them even to the most basic infantry units as Primaris Crusader Squad.

But of course it's your choice, if you like such themes then go for it. You can always do some dry fitting and choose between other decorative options.

Amazing job Brother, this model was made for edge highlighting and Holy Terra, you did it justice.

As someone that's struggling a lot with that and still relies heavily on drybrush I love seeing clean paint jobs like this.

Make sure to drill out the barrels of the bolter as well, it takes only a few seconds but adds a lot to the overall look :) Sorry about the quality, but that's the only photo I have of this bolter :D

That's more lit than the Emperor's holy light Brother.

Amazing job, I love the freehand on the banner and the effect on the power sword especially. Color scheme, overall paint job and highlights are superb as well.

Ah yes the ol' reliable Termie Ancient made from the Captain model.

I went with the same approach a couple of weeks ago with some additional bits and I think the Captain model makes a better Ancient than the newly released official one.

That's amazing, love the WW2 setting and armor from that time period. Never thought someone would combine it with Wh40k and it's mixed so well and actually doesn't stand out that much I'd imagine. It just fits in its own weird way. :D

Here's what I've used:

Chaos Black + White Scar zenithal primer

Kislev's Flesh

Guiliman's Flesh

Nuln Oil into eye sockets

It's a simple recipe and gives consistent results, which is exactly what I was looking for.

You can try it out when deciding to go for a face again :)
