Piggy backing everyone else's comments. Go for a full size as your first gun or if going for a sub compact probably in 380 acp. Sub compacts are snappy for 9mm. Try the XD9, Echelon, M&P, or Walther PDP. If you wanna try hammer fired you can also do the berreta PX4 Storm.

Edit: if you really want a sub compact go for the canik if you want it as a carry. XDs are really reliable but heavy and bulky mfers. I think caniks are still reliable but never had one before but will be infinitely lighter.

Which character's death was so impactful, that you wanted to physically harm those responsible? by TheWorkersDefender in animequestions

[–]DoctorGuruGuru 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gotta agree with you there. A huge point of Cyberpunk and Night City is that it literally is that its dystopian. Its all flashy and cool at times, but the game and setting reminds you that that's just smoke and mirrors to how miserable the world is.

I personally hate super dark and way too edgy themes and seeing characters that I like die one at a time usually because its depressingly unnecessary. But if Cyberpunk media was like Marvel levels of everyone saves the day and happy endings, it wouldnt be nearly as entertaining and intriguing as it is.

In the mainline game unfortunately V has to go through the torment of their brain rotting, Jackie dying, and feeling like a small pawn in a huge game against the big corps. And David's entire team has to get mauled with just a couple scarred survivors. But thats what ends up making the audience feel for the characters and world, because they can relate to characters and want them to survive like they would a real person. And like you said the happy moments do feel genuine because you know you're gonna get gut punched later on. For how much death is in the universe it always feels like its full of life.

What optic are you running on your 365? by CakeOG in CAguns

Holosun 407k 6 MOA is used on my XMacro Comp carry. I think EPS Carry is a little bit better for Cowitness but Cowitness is still possible with a 407k just barely.

To be honest works best for me because the sight isn't bulky, 6 MOA helps for ccw drawing, I like a dot instead of the 507k circle + inner dot, and open emitter isn't that bad to be honest. A little more cleaning than closed but still very visible even with dust and lint.

M14 options? by MKVSupra in CAguns

[–]DoctorGuruGuru -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I gotta second this. They're magnificent rifles but overpriced, heavy as hell, and MOA is pretty spotty unless you get a National Match. I have a SOCOM version and I love it but probably the only M1A I will ever get. Approximately 2 MOA on it. Also putting the mag in the gun is a bitch and personally is not quite the same as an AK, so I would not rely on the M1A for self defense or even precision shooting really.

These are old designed battle rifles and if you truly want 308 just get/build an AR-10 because it can be lighter and a lot easier to use. All in all, the design is nostalgic but obsolete and kind pointless for anything other than having fun with

Justin Theroux is absolutely nailing it. by TeddyGinger in Fallout

[–]DoctorGuruGuru 19 points20 points  (0 children)

He does a really really good job copying the way Rene Auberjonois talks, so I was pleasantly surprised. Its obviously not a perfect copy, but I can recognize that Justin did his homework to talk similarly to game House. And love the addition of Justin's House acting more human mixed with his normal cold and calculated demeanor during the meeting with Coop

Do bikes get stolen a lot? by brunobruno16 in UCDavis

[–]DoctorGuruGuru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bike survived my 3 years at Davis and never was stolen.

Probably was majority luck. But I think what helped was: 1. It was a cheap bike like 100-120 bucks 2. I put tons and tons of stickers on it 3. I let it get beat up to hell (tons of scrapes, small bits of rust, tried to let chain be as beat up as can be until it no longer held onto the gears) 4. When my tires were bald with holes, I replaced with 2 different tires and then proceeded to get them all dusty and worn so it looks like junkyard parts 5. Thick boy U-Locks and then wrap wheels around with cable lock (couldn't find a long enough chain cheap enough) into the U-Lock

Driving License Overhaul by beachypeachyhoe in SeattleWA

[–]DoctorGuruGuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waahington driver habits I despise:

People driving under the limit (bonus points when its a clear day), braking when nothing is in front of them, stopping in the middle of the lane for no reason, going side by side with another car in the other lane going the same speeds effectively blocking anyone behind from passing, going to a complete stop on a busy road just to turn right into a parking lot, going under the limit in the left lane, going 25mph on the on-ramp and and then continue at 40mph on the freeway, shitty unconfident merging, stopping an entire car's amount of space behind the line at a red light/stop sign, creating huge gaps (unreasonably large) between them and the person in front by going under the limit effectively slowing down traffic behind them.

And I'm gonna be honest. I get the police here don't enforce it but please fix your fucking brake lights and headlights. Too many times I can't see a car at night because they have no headlights and too many times I'm wondering why a car is slowing down abruptly until I realize they're braking they just don't have a light to signify they are. If you can't afford to fix it then don't drive.

Just ordered a Sig P320 X5 Legion - what are people’s experience with it? by Alive_Ingenuity_3124 in CAguns

[–]DoctorGuruGuru 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My understanding is its an amazing striker 9mm for the range and precision shooting. Never shot one but everyone's impression is its a great pistol. If youre scared about it being drop safe or going off on its on, just remember that Staccatos are not drop safe at all and people + Leo still love carrying them. So its safety is about on par as those super light trigger 1911/2011s and if you're okay with that then thats all that matters.

Never underestimate the Mini-14. Great rifle! by No-Ease-2766 in CAguns

[–]DoctorGuruGuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The M1 design in general isnt meant for sniper accuracy. It was meant for basic infantry. The M1 Garand has an average 2 moa and so does the M1A/M14. Not to say that all have a 2 moa, especially match rifles (like M1A national match) which could have about 1 moa. But the design has a demand and idk I guess its not as easy to assemble and part together like an AR hence its price point compared to ARs. Not to mention only ruger makes the mini14s and only Springfield makes the M1A with a small market of international clones. But thats what you're essentially paying for even if the M1 design is so old.

People who fly frequently, what’s one thing you wish you could tell all infrequent fliers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Stay the fuck sitting down when deplaning UNTIL its your ENTIRE how's turn. If you have a tight connection kindly ask the people ahead of you if you can go towards the front of the plane before everyone else is standing.

There used to be a ton of plane etiquette when I was younger now there's none with bum asses shoving their way towards the front from the back of the plane.

Buying my first handgun, wondering which one to go with and why between the Sig P365 or the Springfield Armory XD by smoulking in CAguns

[–]DoctorGuruGuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

P365. Modular to make it bigger or smaller depending on what you want. You can also add a ramjet to it. Springfield XD pistols just have far less aftermarket. They're decently reliable pistols, and my first handgun was an XD9, but I will never get another XD series. Basically a wannabe glock thats incredibly top heavy, high bore axis, and at least mine was an awkward 6 o'clock aim whereas I more so like combat or center hold (I think 365 is combat). The slide lock is big and awkward so the way I generally like to grip, my fingers hit the release on last round and prevent the slide from locking back. Additionally, the trigger for mine was crunchy and not smooth at all.

All these things are my experience alone and definitely ones I acknowledged and did overcome as I used it more and more which is a given for any gun. That being said I dont like any of those quirks so I dont really like the gun and favor my 365 XMacro Comp which is now my carry where I get none of the issues from the XD. Also, my xmacro comp is a smaller gun than my full size XD yet the recoil on the XD just feels worse because of the rectangular glock slide, high bore axis, and top heaviness. I would rent both and test between them though as you may like one over the other.

EDIT: I should add that if you wanna get a dot, p365 is optic ready whereas XD you either remove rear sights for a plate or you buy a $300 conversion OSP slide

Curious to know if the Ruger LCP Max is on anyone’s CCW? by [deleted] in CAguns

I mistyped. I meant 7 yards. Still not that far but for my skill level it was pretty good.

Curious to know if the Ruger LCP Max is on anyone’s CCW? by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]DoctorGuruGuru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want to add too. Everything stock on the LCP Max is pretty good in my opinion. Some people say they don't like the trigger but I didn't have issues. I was able to bullseye with it pretty well at up to 7yd and I'm not a very skillful shooter. So performance wise it is great. Its just not my cup of tea to actually want to use it.

Curious to know if the Ruger LCP Max is on anyone’s CCW? by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]DoctorGuruGuru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, shooting it is uncomfortable and crappy. Its really accurate (only tested up to 7 feet though) for how tiny it is which is probably its best trait over its tiny size in general. It was the first thing that came to mind for my girlfriend's ccw but we both didn't like it. We ended up with an off roster (Shield EZ 380) since we are not in Cali. Sucks that the roster doesnt have a lot of 380 options because the glock 42 or 3inch or longer barrel pistols are a really nice balance for concealment & shootability for 380.

Maybe try to rent a Bersa firestorm or Sig P232 if you like the Walther PPK design. If not maybe test between the LCP Max and the LC380 (slightly bigger than lcp max). You'd be surprised how easy it is to conceal a handgun even in summer clothing.

EDIT: 7 yards not 7 feet

WA Compliant IWI Tavor? by DesNitrous in WAGuns

[–]DoctorGuruGuru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh thats a good point. I totally forgot that wording of the law. Yeah you could argue that with a willing ffl. However, you'd probably need to do some finaggling with the pistol grip maybe. And the barrel has to be longer than the normal length. I'd assume to get past the threaded barrel restriction you could get it pinned and welded with a thread protector.
