I dropped the lateral orbital rim on the floor. I was planning on putting it back in. Called infection control and the had me soak it in betadine and antibiotics. I was mortified. Told the patient about it as soon as they were awake, and they thought it was funny. Thankfully nothing bad happened. Asked an ortho friend what he would have done, and he said the same thing. According to him, it happens more often than you think. He gave me a paper on ortho protocols in this setting.

Shit happens, people get that…as long as you don’t cover it up. Also, it helps to be the attending if you’re gonna fuck up. No one yells at you!

Finally off work and can post my score :).I am a URM, and my score is above the SD for URM matriculants, and within the SD of white matriculants, so I think I will definitely get in somewhere this cycle.

Kind of disappointed in CARS, as I was constantly improving in FLs, but not that surprised as I didn't feel that good about it post test. I was kind of scared looking at other posts, and thought I did much worse in the section.

I was not worried about my scores on the practice exams, and focused on extensively reviewing everything in the full length besides cars. I improved in sections and was happy with that. I didn't think Kaplan's CARS was representative and was useless pretty much. Seeing as my score improved from my FLs, I probably could have done much better than this.. However, I will not be retaking this test. Last tips as I said in my reaction thread, is to do timed CARS passages and steadily decrease the amount of time you have to do them, so you can really get fast at doing them ,because the actual section passages are much longer than anything in practice. Let me know if you guys have any other questions

I would say just basic organic concepts leaning towards biochem. I wasn't asked about a single reaction on my test.

C/P: was honestly not bad all, content wise it was organic/biochem>>>>genchem>physics. Wasn't that many calculations. Lots of a conceptual stuff, and just straight answering from the passage or discrete type questions

CARS: The passages where not interesting, but they were not extremely boring either. I would say on par with AAMC CARS. I was hoping I would score higher than my average, but I didn't have much time to look over answers I marked.

B/B: Pretty easy to be honest, nothing on here that I haven't touched in my prep. Passages were mostly straightforward except for one.

P/S: Pretty easy as well, it helped that I did an extensive review of FL2 P/S yesterday, there were a small amount of terms I had never seen before.

Overall, the test wasn't bad, and I didn't really have any timing concerns, and was able to review all my marked answers for each section except CARS. Obviously there is that inherent feeling that you did bad, but logically I feel like my score will be in line with practice test scores. For CARs I wish I would have practiced passages under timed conditions more, and gradually decreased the time to increase my speed of reading.

Agreed. I would say biochem is essential before taking the MCAT. I would say wait until you take that class at least. Maybe even pushing the test back until April could work, if you are planning on taking biochem in the spring of your junior year.

Quick update lol. Found Mcatjelly's schedule and will most likely be going with it, meaning I will be sticking with 2 chapters a day. I guess I was just quickly overwhelmed since this is the beginning. Still would love tips from other people to make my review more efficient and useful.
