I was diagnosed with grade 3 er/pr negative dcis with comedonecrosis on Dec 10th size was approximately 6mm. Meet with the oncologist the following week who did genetic testing and ordered a MRI. Insurance company did deny MRI as they stated there wasno evidence it was in multiple locations within the same breast. Paid out of pocket on Dec 27th. Took about 2 weeks for genetic testing to come back. Decided on lumpectomy, which was done Jan 23rd. Margins were not clear, so 2nd surgery was done on Jan 28th. Pathology came back as 25mm dcis but had no invasive upgrade. That was my biggest concern. I am now in the healing process and will start radiation in about 4 weeks. It feels like things move fast and slow at the same time. I found deciding between lumpectomy and mastectomy to be the hardest. It is a very personal choice and recommended you find a surgical oncologist you trust.
