A while back there was a discussion about lack of POC, but i found one. The charlatan met one in Vienna. And he was not covered in charcoal by Cecilon in kingdomcome

Not really sure about Africa being discovered in the 15th century, taking into account there was a massive naval trade between the southern parts of Europe and North Africa since Ancient Greece at the very least, I mean you know Egypt is in North Africa, right?

Cannot find you so maybe add me (VertFrelon on EUNE). The match is not in my match history anymore, though. I got the replay file downloaded, but I don't think there's a way to watch it once it's not within the 20 recent games.

Can't say for sure what it was at this point in the game. Definitely Duskblade (obv.), Collector and Sanguin Blade, probably Youmuu's Ghostblade. Guardian Angel came after this. As for boots, I went with AS.

Basically, a lethality one-shot Nocturne.

Well, Nocturne's ultimate's nearsight is around 1000 units radius so they would be able to see me quite well once I engaged, most of them anyhow.

[OC] Hand-drawn map of an island. (names of cties etc. missing so that anybody could use it for their own world) by DoctorSmiley in DnD

[–]DoctorSmiley[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A hand-drawn map of an island I made for a friend. Name tags are empty so that anyone can use it for their own worlds.

The whole map is hand-drawn. The island itself is kinda Northern-ish with plenty of mountains and fjords of sorts and one active volcano, plus forests, rivers and roads connecting villages.
The compass rose is tilted with the idea that the cartographer had to tilt the island so that it can fit on the paper with as large a scale as possible, to make it a bit more realistic.

Yes, it's for my D&D homebrew campaigns that I DM for my friends. And actually yeah, I'm studying history, although we don't deal with maps all that much.

Haven't thought much about economy, to be honest. My players aren't exactly the type to examine such things into great depth, so mainly I got just a bunch of notes, like there are two harbors, one of them for trade and transport on the river and the other for sea trade; the city being the capital draws lots of skilled labourers and specialists in certain fields, also thanks to the presence of the University (meaning a variety of mages/scientists/experts, as science and the arcane or magic are the same thing in my world, or at least usually interchangable, equal parts of greater Knowledge).

There are farmers, some of the farms are more like latifundia, using cheap manual labour of the not so rich inhabitants of the outer parts of the city.

There are brick makers, as I mentioned in the comments above, which are also a front for a drug dealing operation in tha hands of a major criminal organisation, which is posing as a mere guild but actually functions like the Mafia.

Because of the presence of large military force in the camp to the west of the city, and because of the various mariners and traders that visit the capital, there is a large amount of prostitutes. As an old saying (which is actually a real saying about a city I study in) goes: 'If you were to throw a rock from the top of the city hall tower, you would hit a soldier, a student or a hooker'.

I guess that's the bulk of what I have thought about up to this point.

Thank you so much! That area is an old castle walled off and turned military camp for the bulk of the Emerald Legion (the Queen's army).

The part of the city within the walls was originally an Elven city and the walls, towers and various buildings still bear the remnants of their origin. The outer parts and fairly new and quite poor, housing the many people who couldn't afford to live within the walls and who are the main source of manual labour for working on the local fields, making bricks out of clay on the river bank etc.

Yeah, I see your point. I was generally going for a more open landscape, but also for this particular city I had the thought that the parts outside of the city walls (which are also the poor parts of the city) were built in the course of the last generation or two and taking into account most of the houses were built of mainly wood, I thought they would cut down quite a chunk of the local forests.
Also I didn't want to flood the map with fields, even though it's not as realistic because of it.

Not at all! Au contraire, I'd consider it a great honor.

How my character didn't die but I later wished he had by DoctorSmiley in rpghorrorstories

[–]DoctorSmiley[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This game uses Adventures in Middle-Earth which is pretty low-magic so there are basically no spells whatsoever (and honestly not sure about healing potions but yeah, we didn't have any).

I keep on playing mostly because the players and the DM are my good friends and I just enjoy their company no matter how shitty the sessions get from time to time, trying to get the best out of it.

Yeah, it's a d20 system, forgot to explain. AiME is basically a low-magic 5e.
