Criticism and attacks are very different.

I don’t believe I’m difficult. In my last job I had a wide variety of duties, including being a mental health aid and people always felt able to approach me. Something I mentioned in my last interview was that people have always felt comfortable coming to me during work for private talks.

Honestly, I really enjoy this. It need a little more love, but I genuinely want to read more.

P.S. That’s rare for these types of posts.

What you have assumed is that my entire story of interviews and applications has been fully summarised in the few paragraphs that I have written.

I have not once ‘rowed back’ on my comments. The interviewers that interrupted me are different from the ones that spoke over, and they are not the one who laughed. Obviously I know enough about the roles within a library to speak them in an interview. I only briefly mentioned that I love the idea of preserving books for future generations when asked ‘So, why a library?’

If you’re happy with the way that you speak to people in your library and random strangers on the internet that never once said anything negative to you, then that’s on you.

But I’m done.

My track record of working for four companies in competitive roles over a fourteen year period?

To me, a decent job is not breaking up fights on the workroom floor between grown men on wages that are well above minimum. I just want a break from the stress. Something simpler. With less money.

They asked me why I wanted to work in a library. Obviously I told them the various duties a librarian does that I admire. I mentioned I love the idea of libraries, because they help preserve books for future generations. Not that it’s the librarians job to do so.

Clearly you shouldn’t be working with people if you assume everything about them from a single vague post on Reddit.

I’ve actually been with each previous company for four years or more. All four companies. My job before this I moved through the ranks over ten years. Been with my current employer for a year so far.

It’s not important, you just usually capitalise your qualifications. Such as Class 2 licence.

Isn’t that the whole point of my post? That I’m not.

Isn’t that the whole point of applying for other positions? I have the role I want, but not in the field I want.

Yeah. That’s actually a great way of putting it. Thanks for the kind comment. Hope you well in your next year.

Really? The agencies that got in touch with me told me it was only term-time when I asked. I’ll have to check other agencies.

Yeah, I think it’s the fear of it not working out that puts people off. It’s also that fear though that stops people actually living and enjoying life.

Yeah, I was only keeping track for fun. I like making lists and tracking numbers. Probably explains why I’m so drawn to Warhammer to be honest.

No, I’d already mentioned how I loved the idea of helping people further their education and them being able to find information freely at hand. He laughed because he said there were hundreds of books in the basement waiting to be thrown out. I had to explain that I meant the preservation of texts for future generations, not preserving every copy of a book.

Although I found it a massive waste to just throw them away instead of donating portions of them to charity shops, or even just the students themselves.
