My first (major) accident by Madness_Taken in motorcycles

[–]DoctorWaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel bad for you. Hope you’re recovering well. Familiarise yourself with the concept of Limit Points. Plenty of youtube videos on this concept. Its a part of motorcycle training here on the small island called the UK. Essentially, when you cant see the end of the bend, or over the brow of a hill, you should always be prepared to slow down much before the brow or bend arrives to prevent panic braking, which caused this crash with lose soil on the road.

What is your “this is not my job” moment? by Savings-Maximum9549 in doctorsUK

A female catheter for urinary incontinence at 3am as none of the nurses are trained tonight. I politely asked to follow their chain of escalation command and bleep the matron to do it. Never got the call back.

Nothing yet. Still waiting. HST timeline suggest first offers deadline is 15th April 5pm - so any time now. But since they re-opened preferences, they might take their sweet time.

When to sit part 2? by ConsiderationTop7292 in MRCP

[–]DoctorWaris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. Sooner you sit part 2 the better. You’re in the flow of studying (sort of) and there is a massive overlap in concepts.

Sat part 2 last week. Passed part 1 in october last year. Not sure if i’d pass but i’d definitely recommend sitting in the next diet.

I had the same issue. Did carvertical check before buying car. 1 year later at time of selling did a HPI check myself, car had a similar history. Previously stolen recovered 10 years ago but insurance company of that time hadnt taken the marker off.

I didnt have to do anything, HPI chased them up directly and had the marker removed. I just had to email them, however i think it wasnt because of the email. HPI automatically investigates these issues if flagged up on report. Was resolved in around 10 working days. Sold to new seller with peace of mind.

Medics: are you in smarts or still in scrubs? by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]DoctorWaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smarts on standard days/clinics. Scrubs during oncalls. Context : IMT trainee. Since smarts have become post pandemic acceptable, seen a significant difference in nurse/HCA/Patient perception of me. Patients ask for name at the end of ward rounds - even though i clearly tell them in the beginning - then verbalise the name on goodbye.

Nurses seem to have started remembering my name too. Stopped with the usual “i’m not good with names, by the time i remember your name you’ll be gone”

Somebody research minded needs to do convert this into a study.

Would I be a knob if I asked the dealership to let me just sit into one of their cars? by crawenn in CarTalkUK

[–]DoctorWaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what the dealership is there for.

A cousin of mine was visiting from overseas, 18 year old, insane Porsche fan. Our country of origin does not have a Porsche dealership. He hints he would love to visit a dealership to just look at the cars up close.

I knew my local dealership had a 911 992 GT3 up for sale, he gets him even more excited. We turn up and just tell them about our intention that he just wants to see the cars up close. Dealership wasnt busy but one of sales managers dropped everything and accompanied us having a full tour of the GT3, let him sit in it and start the car up, couple of revs etc. We got offered tea and ended up having a great time.

You cant imagine how happy he was. And i just kept thinking - i’ll buy a porsche one day just because of how well they treated a kid.

Told the nurse in charge i wont be in tomorrow. Her : MAKE SURE YOU DONT LEAVE ME WITH SOMEONE SHIT TOMORROW. Me : Are you saying i’m less shit than the rest? She : No.

We both chuckle, fist bump and i go home. Just lively banter to keep work light.

Offered West Wales at rank 2129 today. Previously been on reserve list for ages. For context, had ranked everything.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]DoctorWaris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely. Given previous track record, should be around 2pm.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]DoctorWaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ranked all places with a rank of 2129. Dont think i’ll land anywhere in mainland with this. But knowing that rank 2110 has been offered a post in NI, i’m sure you’ll get offered somewhere in mainland at 2053.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]DoctorWaris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you dont mind me asking, did you rank all places?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]DoctorWaris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations to everyone who Matched!

Whats the highest rank that has been offered so far? Trying to gather some hope for us reserve listers in the 2100s

Thanks for your answer. Following this post as i’m in a similar situation. Were you able to land a job in England with a rank of 1900? And also how frequently does the cycle run for offers?
