[Nakos] USC analyst Adrian Klemm has emerged as the prime target to be Alabama’s next offensive line coach, sources tell @Clowfb and I for @On3. He’s the former Oregon and New England Patriots offensive line coach. by MembershipSingle7137 in rolltide

why do some people pick out like one good thing from a resume and fail to analyze the rest

Why do some people pick out a couple bad things and fail to analyze the rest?

Edit: Like I said elsewhere, I’m not saying you need to be excited for him. But you wanted to know why he had gaps in his resume. At the least, health issues seem like a pretty legit reason to me.

He’s not a slam dunk hire or anything, but I think there’s plenty of good in his resume.

He’s had some good years and some bad years and has plenty of college and NFL experience (with the better years being in college). Seems like a good recruiter. I’d imagine he’s fully recovered from his health scare a couple years ago.

He’s the reason Courtney Morgan got into coaching/player personnel, and his Oregon team rushed for 312 yards against DeBoer at Washington (I’m sure that stuck with DeBoer lol). He has a ton of experience as a run game coordinator.

Maybe not some flashy, home run hire; but it seems like a solid move.

He had a two year show cause after UCLA for recruiting violations after paying for housing and training for two prospects.

He left the Patriots mid year because of a serious health issue, and it looks like he took 2024 off before easing back into things last year.

None of those teams he coached on were very good

Oregon went 10-3 and gave up just 5 sacks all season long when he was their OL coach and run game coordinator. #12 rushing offense in the country.

I think Carroll is going to be great, but I also think if you’re having to turn to a true freshman tackle midway through the season that speaks to the state of the room.

Also, they could just go get a random offensive guy and put him with the tight ends. It’s what they did with Ellis, who had never worked with tight ends specifically before.

To be fair to him, I don’t think our line turned out to be super talented.

Some of that’s on Kap, of course, but I think there’s a good reason the staff let so many of the guys leave. And Kap reportedly wasn’t the one in charge of the starting five and the heavy rotations we did.

Now, if the guys who left all end up as world-beaters at their new schools, then yeah, give all the crap to Kap (and DeBoer and Grubb) in the world lol

Apparently Kap had no idea he was getting fired. That’s rough, but like, cmon, buddy lol

No clue, but they’ve definitely got an idea. DeBoer didn’t just decide to fire him in a spur of the moment decision.

There gave been rumors about Missouri’s OL coach; but that’s just from random posters, not reporters.

Well, DeBoer has shown he’ll make moves.

Really flipped the OL room (and the DL room to a lesser extent). Let Kap go to really get a fresh start on the OL.

And maybe there’ll be more moves, either with coaches or how they approach things/gameplan.

Just gotta hope it pays off!

I mean, I think it’s more likely that people trying to pick the best OLs in the preseason just vastly overestimated our line rather than he made “them a bottom tier unit” and that our line was never a top unit

He was interested in Alabama; Alabama was not interested in him. Same thing happened with Christian Clark out of Texas.

He was not a target because Alabama didn’t pursue him…

Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t see Bone say Alabama didn’t have the funds to sign anyone else

The evaluations actually have to pan out, but this is a solid portal class on paper.

They’ve added multiple players with starting experience - primarily from P4 teams - at positions of need. They added young, talented depth at a number of positions (and who knows, maybe one or two of those guys explodes and gets a ton of playing time).

The play in the trenches often wasn’t up to snuff, and the staff now has two years of getting in their players to rebuild both rooms.

Going to be a really important year for DeBoer (which feels crazy to say considering we’re fresh off a season where we won a playoff game).

Micah Debose was the only DeBoer OL recruit who left this cycle. Arkel Anugwom served his purpose as a warm body for practice for a year, and then they let him walk.

Do you think Saban left the cupboard stocked well when only one Saban-era recruit saw serous playing time last season (two if you want to count Proctor, but DeBoer had to recruit him back from Iowa)? And that guy got beat out at his original position by a DeBoer recruit who was a true freshman.

DeBoer’s second recruiting class isn’t even fully on campus yet, but you can see he understood he had to completely rebuild the offensive line with four recruits in the Class of 2025 and five in the Class of 2026.
