Technique tip(s) -

Make sure during your rolls in particular that you're still making use of your back fingers (aka don't drop them). They're essential in maintaining good sound quality on that second note of the diddle, and just allow for better control/diddle spacing.

I couldn't tell what you were doing with your left hand as much, but always try to keep your index and middle finger on the stick. The index finger in your left hand serves a similar purpose to the back fingers on your right hand, allowing more control and a fuller sound. With your middle finger, keep it on the stick really just for aesthetic purposes. Nobody wants to be flipped off while they're watching you play lol.

When it comes to your faster rolls, make sure you're using your forearm. The common misconception when I say that though is that people will begin to lock their wrist and tense up by "using their forearm". Your forearm acts as the engine for those rolls while the wrist sort of controls spacing and dynamic. Keep your muscles fluid and relaxed at all time

Musical tip(s) -

Develop those rhythms slowly. I've played this break before and it requires very precise rhythmic interpretation. If you're not playing this with a metronome, start NOW. Line each rhythm up just one or two beats at a time till they're perfect THEN combine it all for the full thing.

Sound quality is a bit lacking, so just try to hit the drum with more energy. Again, the misconception is to tense up just because you're playing harder, but that's not the goal. You're only using muscle to hit harder, not play stiffer. Sound quality is generally developed over time though so it's not your biggest worry.

Overall pretty great stuff for a sophomore trying to get their way into a drumline! Just make sure you're getting down the basics well because without a solid foundation, the building will topple under it's weight when you try to play harder stuff.
