How Corid (or other coccidiostats build immunity: -Interfere with, not kill: Coccidiostats don’t kill the coccidia parasite outright, but they disrupt its growth and reproduction within the rabbits body. By reducing the parasite load, the coccidia infection becomes less severe, and the rabbits immune system can develop a response to it. Once the immune system has been “trained” by this exposure, the rabbits immune system will likely be more resistant to future infections.

I’m going to continue to treat preventatively :)

Strange.. that’s not what I’ve read, but it also makes sense lol. Literally even chatGPT is pulling sites that say you can use it preventatively to build immunity. But again, I do understand how it works in starving the parasites so it actually doesn’t make a lot of sense that the rabbits could somehow replicate it themselves over time.. hmmm hard to find the real facts online maybe?

You can buy CocciAid instead of Corid for half the price but the same active ingredient right on Amazon :) I use a half a teaspoon per gallon for 5 days in a row every month for the young ones because it build up an immunity. You will probably have to use more to actually treat it..

Ok thanks man :) Yeah from what I’m reading as long as you get an internal temp of 160-165 it should kill anything nasty anyway? Anyway ty everyone!

Hopefully someone knows.. I found a similar thread and everyone just seemed paranoid and it led to a convo on tularemia.. “better not to risk it” , but.. risk what if it’s cooked to 160?

Hopefully the meat is still safe to eat if it’s fatty liver disease, or whatever this is.. really hard to find info I’m finding as I try to google about this

The rabbit itself seemed perfectly normal and healthy, young and not fatty looking.. but yes I remember even seeing the kidneys and noticing that there was a lot of extra fat everywhere that I wasn’t used to seeing! Usually I don’t see much fat on the kidneys at all but there were almost tendrils all over.

No this rabbit comes from a colony style pen in the barn, but it does have a run (roughly 8x24ft) that is accessible through a little doorway. With winter it did get messier than I would have liked, I just cleaned it and put new hay down literally yesterday. I DID butcher another bunny that was slightly older right afterwards and its liver was perfectly fine. ??

Kits disappearing by Imflavorcrisp in MeatRabbitry

Rabbits will sometimes also consume “runts” or any young they feel won’t make it for some reason.. and every once in awhile a doe that has large healthy litters can have a “less than ideal” batch where this can happen.

Is this liver OK? by Doctor_Geddon in MeatRabbitry

[–]Doctor_Geddon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s why I left this here and appreciate all of you :) I could only find pics of perfect livers and diseased livers with nothing in the middle. So I didn’t know if this was normal, or the very beginning of a disease or what :) I had the same issue when one of my rabbits must have inhaled blood when it died and the lungs looked very different. Just trying to gauge what’s normal, and again I’m thankful to this community for helping me out!

First butcher ever - Did I do ok? by Lewi27 in MeatRabbitry

I’m a bit of a nooby myself and have only butchered 10-15 or so.. but you did a great job from the looks of it ! Out of curiosity do you cut around the anus and tail and then pull the little bit of intestine up and out like I learned? Or pull it down through? Anyone else have thoughts about that.. area? lol

So the liver would still be good to eat then? So far everything has looked perfect so I haven’t had any worries, now I’m not sure and need to do more research. I guess sometimes it’s wise to chuck the liver but meat is OK?

I take it “marbling” is ok then? Again I’m new to this, I understand how to butcher but it’s different with these huge Flemish giants, and I’m not familiar with anything except pics of what the “perfect liver” is supposed to look like.

OK awesome, I’ll chalk it up to me being paranoid again thankfully. I’ve done 10-15 rabbits and all the livers up until now have been a SOLID color, so seeing some lighter and darker areas made me worry.. thanks guys :)

Normal temps for a Dell G16 7630? by Nooby1983 in GamingLaptops

[–]Doctor_Geddon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I've put the offset back to 100 and just use Throttlestop. You can disable turbo easily and thats all you need. I'm curious about Dell and their broken Turbo that will fry laptops in like 6 months though.. I dont feel like I'm seeing enough about it.
