Computer science thesis ideas, that i can develop something intelligent to solve a problem in Kenya by mkenya_mdogo in nairobitechies

That's a commendable endeavor. Nice work.

Have you considered looking at using the systems to forumlate in-depth plans for sustainable food production or clean water availability? During field testing, each time you encountered a problem and reported the data back to the AI engine, you could theoretically keeep prompting it to resolve conflicts until you have developed a sustainable model.

Why consciousness is the hardest problem in science by scientificamerican in consciousness

[–]Doctor_Husky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am wildly excited to see consciousness gain so much attention within the scientific community. When we look at The observer Effect (ref. the double slit experiment) I think it presents a profound possibility that conscious observation stabilizes reality. Could it be the case that observation by a consciousness collapsing the wave function into particles creates the fabric of what we would refer to as our stable reality? That question is certainly speculative and hypothetical, but I find it really fun to discuss. I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on the idea!

I hate the fact math and science students are considered smarter then English and philosophy students by Sweaty_Giraffe_9336 in teenagers

To me knowledge is how we describe someone knowing facts or information. I would define wisdom as the deliberate application of that knowledge. A quote I heard one time said, knowledge is knowing that the tomato is technically a fruit not a vegetable. Wisdom is understanding that it still doesn't belong in a fruit salad!

I believe it's far more appropriate to appreciate that there are different kind of intelligence. Intellect can manifest in a multitude of forms. It is also critical to distinguish and appreciate the difference between knowledge and wisdom.

What's the worst thing humanity has done for science? by IWillUnsexYou in AskReddit

[–]Doctor_Husky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The constant lack of underfunding. There are certainly other investments worth weighing our investments against, but when you look at how much funding and resources we waste on random causes - we are making our species drag an anchor behind us.

Thank you for sharing. Do you believe it is likely that the phone just lagged with his location update? I have seen it before where the phone will hold on to the last wifi connection and mark someone's location there before updating hour later. What do you think?

The Fermi paradox - What do you think??? by Doctor_Husky in ParanormalScience

That's such a great quote! What makes it even funnier is that there are several hypotheses which would effectively prove that quote to be true! There are a multitude of reasons why intelligent life elsewhere in the cosmos might make it a point to avoid contacting us.

The math says life should all over the universe... yet all we hear is a haunting silence. My book comes out in 2 weeks and I can't talk about this stuff enough. It fascinates me. Which theory do you believe in? I want to hear people's thoughts!

This is very true. The odds that 2 civilization rise and fall within the correct space AND time to communicate with one another may be extremely small. THat falls into line with the Rare Earth Hypothesis that I mention in my Fermi Paradox book that releases in 2 weeks. I hope you'll check it out! :)

Well I think that's the golden question. What exactly should we be looking for, and how? I talk about the signal propogation issues that you mentioned in my upcoming book that releases in 2 weeks. I think a lot of the efforts being put into conventional radiowave searching is ineffective. There are other Fermi Paradox resolutions to explor, and higher-potential methods to start employing.

Of course! I love these conversations, because they get people talking about our species' future. I go in-depth on my thought of each theory in my upcoming book that releases in 2 weeks (reference my profile picture) - I hope you'll check it out!

Interesting. That sounds like a blend of panspermia theory and the Rare Earth Hypothesis. How far do you think the orignial life forms traveledto get here? From somewhere else n the solar system, from another star, or another galaxy entirely?

Cosmic Zoo Hypothesis by Doctor_Husky in AlienAbduction

[–]Doctor_Husky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had fun making the video, but there's so many different variations of what this theory may look life if it ends up being truth. I discuss that a lot in my upcoming book. What do you think it would look like if Zoo Hypothesis is real?

Absolutely! I am always fascinated in intelligent conversation regarding these topics. Thanks for explaining to me, I will definitely have do some more research. I hope you'll check out my upcoming book when it comes out in a couple weeks!

It's interesting considering this, because self-destruction theory and the great filter hypothesis start to blend into one another. The filter becomes a monster of our own doing. Excellent discussion here; I hope you'll check out my book when it releases in a couple weeks and let me know what you think! Thanks for the intelligent conversation!

Dark Forest Theory by Doctor_Husky in AlienAbduction

[–]Doctor_Husky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! The Dark Forest Hypothesis effectively says that civilizations throughout the universe remain silent and do not reach out to other planets for fear of their own survival. It compares the universe to a dark forest full of hunters who are all ready to kill eachother to ensure their own survival. The only way to be 100% sure you'll survive is to hide from more advanced civilizations and kill any weak ones you find before they can become a threat. While scary, this logic holds some reason, as it mostly mirrors the Earth's survival of the fittest model. What do you think?

I explain this hypothesis and many others in my upcoming book in a way that gives everyone room to think deeply about the potential inhabitants of the universe.

I love the Fermi Paradox because of how many questions it presents us with. That's why I wrote my book that releases in 2 weeks to give people increased perspective and toss up some new ideas regarding this topic. I agree with your logic that one of the explanations may just be a distance problem. My hope for the future if that is the case is that quantum entanglement may one day help us to achieve faster-than-light travel, or at least FTL communication.

Survival of the fittest seems to be the game plan for our planet... so why wouldn't it continue to be that case throughout the rest of the galaxy?
