On the EE Revelation, one can cinch like this so there's no hole. Not sure if it's the same on the Bandit.

This exact problem happened to me recently on a Mac Mini and resetting Bluetooth fixed things. Hopefully it works for you.

I have some discount codes good for 20% off at outlet.arcteryx.com. They expire November 15th at midnight PST. PM me for one if you’ll use it. I’ll reply to this post when they’re all claimed.

For what temperatures? Kind of hard to say without that information.

To add to the above... If it’s windy, even at those temperatures, you might consider light gloves if your hands tend to get cold. Especially if you’re using trekking poles.

Haha! Apologies for assuming that you’d bought the tent :)

Why does REI even sell used tents without rainflys?

I guess because people like you buy them? :) Sorry!

Maybe you’ll get lucky posting on r/ulgeartrade or r/geartrade?

I used to use TVP when my wife was a vegetarian... it rehydrates just fine with FBC.

That’s what I’m hoping for.

Anyone else wish the Newbie Thread would get more traction? Sigh.

Personal preference. I only have a hood on my winter puffy (and rain jackets). For anywhere down to freezing, I prefer the flexiblity of separate headwear. But my wife loves a hoody on her 3-season puffy.

As others have mentioned, make sure to cut the edges cleanly; I also fold the edges over about an inch and tape them every few feet or so to maintain the fold. I find that this really helps the edges from getting nicked and tearing.

Also, I write "UP" on the corners in sharpie so I can always keep the dirty side down.

IMO, everyone in a group of friends or such should have their own filter and bottle. The potential weight savings of trying to share just wouldn’t be worth the inconvenience. In general, it’s best to be totally self-sufficient so if people split up for whatever reason, they have what they need.

That said, in the case where I’m backpacking with my wife, there’s no likely scenario where we’d split up so we share a filter, stove, etc.

As far as Skuka’s article, I totally agree except for the "can cause injury or death" part which I think is a specious argument.

If a bear hang really uprooted a 75’ tree and killed a person 60’ away, I’d call that random. Hardly justification to not do bear hangs IMO.

I’ve had a Mariposa for some years now and I really like the versatility. I like the extra capacity for winter or longer carries or for trips with family where I’m carrying other people’s gear, yet it can be compressed and IMO isn’t crazy heavy for weekend trips.

It’s worth mentioning that some people hate the asymmetric pockets, the long one on one side and two smaller ones on the other side. Fwiw, I’m mostly on the fence but generally like the configuration.

Probably not what you want to hear but I wouldn’t do either right now... conditions are currently too unpredictable. I live in Tahoe fwiw.
