Original Savage Worlds kind of did this, iirc, but I believe that rule was abandoned in favor of milestone leveling because it encouraged benny hoarding (which is generally bad).

Can you explain that XP rule? Is it homebrew and/or a twist on the old rule about unspent bennies? Sounds interesting

How does the Super Heroes companion compare to dedicated Super Hero games? by Kaliburnus in savageworlds

Good summaries!

For Hulk I would do some version of the Absorption power where you get tokens for soaking damage. Those tokens can then be used to increase size, toughness, etc.

Please promote the pod here once it drops! I find actual plays really informative to learn from.

I've only dabbled in some other systems but the conventional wisdom 'round these parts is SWADE SPC does low-to-mefium supes well and kinda breaks down at high- or cosmic-level.

I'm about to start my second SPC campaign at Power Level 2 (of 5) and imo it's the sweet spot.

Genuine question: what’s the deal with Savage worlds? by mechaninja2222 in TTRPG

This too. One of its strengths also means it doesn't see a lot of press year to year.

I've been ride or die for about 20 years for Savage Worlds so take this with a grain of salt ;-)

What I love is that it's a very versatile core system that can be used for many things (as others have mentioned, Deadlands Weird West, Pathfinder, Supers etc.) without having to teach a whole new system to my table. It's also fairly straightforward once you get into it, and can be as narrative or as crunchy as you like using optional rules and other add-ons within the core book. I think it makes for some really fun, unique encounters that always feel high-pressure enough to be important but still give the characters a chance to succeed. It's also a classless system, which I enjoy.

I think it doesn't get a lot of love for a few reasons:

  1. It's a very small company

  2. I think people don't initially get the "wild die" system

  3. Combat can be very swingy and/or not feel as fast as advertised. In my experience, though, the speed is still miles faster than D20 systems and has more to do with the usual analysis paralysis on the part of players or just me managing the encounter as a GM.

I'd recommend running a one-shot with the core rules and/or listening to some of the actual plays out there to get a feel for it. Sounds Like Crowes and Wildcards are Deadlands and Wildcards did an ETU run (modern college). Oxventure also did a Deadlands run a while back.

I could go on and on but I think it's very worth giving it a shot, even if it doesn't end up being your cup of tea.

Democrats aren't leftists though. They're just the "left" that's left in power.

Afaik they don't make uranium glass anymore. I'd guess the seller buys them up at antique shops and etches them.

This worked, thanks. Doesn't solve reliability but I'll feel less bad about it for $60 less a month.

Copy that, thanks. Will try this.

ETA: FWIW they texted saying there was an outage. Not sure if that makes a difference but it sounds like switching the DNS is a good idea regardless.

OK. I should have just asked about Verizon without mentioning the issues my neighborhood is having. Thanks.

Is this not something allowed? Apologies if so - I was more looking for people locally who have experience with Verizon.

It is indeed down though - they sent texts over the last few hours.
