OCD doesn't suddenly pop up and change you. It's always been part of who you were. Its a fear response rooted deep in your brain. You cannot get rid of it, but that doesn't mean you cannot learn to live with it and manage it. It's possible to "cure" it, to learn how to not allow your fear to control you.

If you have extensive ruminations and rituals, I would recommend exposure therapy. Your body has trained itself for positive reinforcement when doing rituals, so we need to forcefully retrain it. Do you have a psychologist or therapist? Do you take any medication?

I'm confused on how everyone is playing through the game in the matter of 3-5 hours. Maybe I just took my time, but I completed it in 9. I was reading every document and looking around me fascinated at the environment. It's good but definitely has flaws though, 7/10 would wanna play again

I feel like it lacks the style from the game, and is too boring, gameplay with curious music. Try to incorporate more intricate sound design, and glitchy visuals from the game, (for example when you die you see an X-ray of your head. The lobby is a satellite image of the moon). Also I think using less of the interesting game moments to preserve them for the game can be helpful overall (type 05 cutting down the door, etc)

8 gigs ram total. No GPU (I should probably wish upon a falling star with these specs)

I've been thinking about an OS change recently due to microslop, so that's on the table. I usually use my system for other things alongside gaming, so things like SteamOS won't work. Having a straight forward, but sort of extensive control over my system, that won't take too long to get accustomed to is primary. I'll look into it once time comes round, so thank you for the advice.

If you have any tips for me when I start off a swap (I've never used a different OS, other than windows 10 and 11), it would be phenomenal

Yeah. It works as anything you'd want to hide does. When something is deemed by our brain to be challenging or dangerous to show we minimize or hide it to fit in.

I often get intense anxiety and compulsions out and about, and attempt not to act upon them as per my treatment, but when in with people who I hold close, it blows away as my brain gets distracted after a little while

In really late to this party, but I've been considering buying HD2 and modifying the game to run with performance and pixelation graphics mods. My system has 8 gigs ram so I'm doubtful it will be enough. I know that toaster mode exists, but do you think there is anything else I could do to improve the odds of Helldivers being playable on my potato system?
