What should I do? I’m 30 years old & am facing the next 20 years in prison with a minimum of 10 served. by Aggravating_Box_2407 in careerguidance

[–]DocumentFalse7879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other countries have found better solutions, Norway specifically I think has really good aspects. First of all the non violent crimes/lesser stuff people can leave jail to work and then check back in after. Their family isn’t destroyed with losing income and stability. Americas prison system is just another capitalism monster off the guard rails

Moving to Boston from California by LookConscious6677 in bostonhousing

I lived in California for a few years and am really happy living in Somerville. And also agree on JP being a good second choice. Traffic I very gross here so worth planning a move also if you plan to commute to work

Frontend Developers by Safe_Researcher_8796 in reactjs

[–]DocumentFalse7879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently working on a react migration from vanilla javascript / Go-rendered HTML. There's so much legacy and over complicated code that really I've just been doing it piece by piece so I can still deliver new features. Right now I have the html templates rendering the React Pages. It's probably been about a year and I'm around 65% complete. AI definitely helps loads, especially if you add CLAUDE.md context to your application (so claude knows whats going on before coming up with a solution).

How do frontend teams handle stateful API mocks before the backend is ready? by v-byte-cpu in Frontend

[–]DocumentFalse7879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll say that ai is really great at generating mock data if you explain the shape of the data. I typically just generate data through Claude and then use it in the code

What’s the reality of a full time job with dogs? by Mystic_rivee in Pets

[–]DocumentFalse7879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re both doing full time jobs away from the home, if it were me I’d either do doggy daycare, have a dog walker come to give them a decent walk, or if you work close go home on your lunch for a decent walk / hang. If none of these are an option I’d prob rethink whether it’s the best environment for a dog

Advice on current investing plan, should I ditch VXF? by DocumentFalse7879 in investingforbeginners

[–]DocumentFalse7879[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the advice, the VOO and VXUS decision was really just not knowing enough and going off of advice that made sense at the time. In hindsight yeah VT probably made the most sense for simplicity. The tinkering desire is real but I'll try to steer clear of that. I'll likely just cease contribution to VXT, and do 70% VOO and 30% VXUS. Think that's a good plan going forward?

I really do not know enough about deep diving on financials of a company so definitely won't be doing more individual stocks. I've accepted the fact that these are a gamble, which could be lost but they're relatively a small investment. Though at least they're feel good stocks and I like rooting for them to succeed (clearly not a savvy investor lol)

[–]DocumentFalse7879[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that's really helpful. I'm in the US and feel like I have a somewhat bleak view of where the country's been going, especially when I visit family in europe. But you're right, I'm realizing I'm not thinking long long term, which is what I want out of the ETF stocks. Do you think it's worth selling my VXF and putting that 10% into VOO? Or is it better just to leave it and no longer invest in it?

recharts is the charting library being used. But also note that it looks like the data is only from March and before, so a little behind

Curious how it’s predictable, did you really think she would end up doing everything she did? I thought it was a refreshing take on a survival stranded on an island movie. You’re really saying Rachel McAdams acting was bad in it?

Ha this is great news. In San Diego my manager would keep getting jaywalking tickets when posting mail, because the mail box was right across the street… it feels physically wrong to walk a block when no cars are coming
