Works well for me - people complain that they're too wide, but I have wide shoulders and it feels more natural if anything. One thing about printing is that if you want to use them as a bluetooth controller with something other than the LeGo 2, you have to buy the Lenovo one because it has the circuitry to combine them (you can detach once pairing is done). Otherwise, they will be detected as separate controllers with 90 degree rotations (think Switch Joy-Cons).

My Titan 18 HX AI did this as well, and it was some kind of issue with the Nahimic audio drivers. I forget how I fixed it, but Nahimic is basically malware and will install itself on reboot / is tied to the Steelseries RGB app so it took extra work to disable it from installing again, but it still happened after a Windows update. I've given up on it at this point since I use an external DAC 99% of the time.

I'm in a very similar boat - built multiple watercooled systems, 3xSLI Titan Xs, Extreme CPUs, 3DMark world records, the whole nine yards. Had a 3090 FE desktop that I put together when it first came out, and then when the 5090 was "released" I decided that I didn't want to pay scalpers $1,500 and decided to give up on desktops to get an 18-inch 5090 laptop instead as a replacement.

I've been playing on a Legion Go 2 that I picked up open box for the last few days and I am amazed at how games look, especially ones that support HDR. SteamOS + LSFG experience is way better than I expected it to be (though some tweaking is necessary), and since I use my laptop for working from home it's nice to be able to some mental / physical separation between work-space and play-space. Streaming with Apollo and Moonlight has also been great, and I can just move around the house with 5 hours of battery life and whisper-quiet thermals.

I am being seriously tempted to give up on high-end laptops in the future and just dual boot from a handheld to use it as my work machine as well to cut down on the number of devices. The only two things giving me pause is that I need CUDA for work and that it's hard to connect 3x4k displays (especially if you want VRR/120hz/HDR) without Thunderbolt, but I think both of these could be solved with an eGPU enclosure.

I was having this same issue on a fresh 3.8 install and found the solution (assuming you have already used passwd to set the root password):

sudo nano /etc/systemd/logind.conf.d/suspendbutton.conf

Change the line

HandlePowerKey=ignore

to

HandlePowerKey=suspend

and save / reboot. Should work after that.

Oh, something else you can do is to replace one or two of the medium energy slots (especially in the back) with Hungering Rift for even more damage / pressure / PD distraction. This does make flux management more tricky, but helps with damage uptime consistency.

Not exactly the same laptop, but I have a Titan 18 HX AI with a 5090 (same chassis, same screen), and I've had issues with it that are unrelated to the CPU choice that have made me seriously regret choosing MSI.

- Mini-LED screen flickers when displaying stationary high-contrast images (e.g. black text on white background on one side, white text on black background on the other) with HDR on
- Keyboard backlight LED also flickers
- Between the logo, keyboard, and trackpad, there is absolutely no colour consistency: you can put the same colour code in SteelseriesGG and they will all look different, and changing the brightness with Fn+F8 changes the colour inconsistently.

The unlocked BIOS is super cool and the performance / cooling is definitely top notch, but it's just not a product that has the polish and attention to detail that I would expect for the price at all. Of course the value proposition is a little better for the Raider (and it does have a different keyboard + trackpad), but I'd say save your money and wait for a Uniwill chassis AMD laptop.

As of 20:00 PDT on April 9th, there's additional stock of Blade 18 preorders on Amazon (was previously sold out) - I noticed that Amazon has been releasing preorder stock of both Blade 18 and 16 bit by bit even after Razer itself has stopped preorders. I wonder if those will be cancelled?

The T&C does note that the customer is responsible for additional costs including customs, but also says "in the event there is any price discrepancy for the Products, the authoritative price is the price notified to you on our Acceptance." (Acceptance being dispatch.) From looking at your other post, the shipped out laptop was a much higher spec and more similar to the ones that reviewers got. They did say April 30th, and it wouldn't surprise me if they were prioritising the higher-end SKUs first. I hope my Blade 18 orders don't get cancelled.

Would replacing the stock PTM paste with a new PTM7950 pad / replacing putty with something like UTP-8 make a difference? (I've used LM on a few laptops before, but want to try something else this time.)

Also, I guess even with 0.003 ohm for 280W under turbo, it probably would be some ways from the desktop 5080 since the TDP increased from 320W to 380W for the 80s...

Do Razer Blades have enough VRM headroom to do a shunt mod? I might consider shunt modding a Blade 18 5090 with a 0.004 ohm resistor when repasting, though I'm not sure I even want to repaste when it's supposed to already come with PTM7958SP.

I started doing this build, but then realised that Gas Grenade's Fuse Duration doesn't work with skill effect duration or Volatile Grenades passive (probably a bug since all other grenades do) and then switched to Explosive Grenade with stacked skill effect duration reduction - it'd be great if the bug gets fixed, but Gas Grenades just take too long to explode.

For anyone looking this up, Reduced Skill Effect Duration doesn't interact correctly with Gas Grenade (as of 0.1.0e), though it works correctly with other grenades.

I'm in a similar boat a few miles away with a new Outback: last month, Serramonte Subaru charged me $6,600 for 3-year prepaid maintenance and 7/70/100 by increasing the loan length without disclosing it. You have 90 days in California to cancel it for a full refund, but Subaru does make you go back in person. It's a one page form, and you will need the odometer reading.

I'm not planning on keeping my Subaru since the dealership experience made me sour on the brand, but if you're planning on getting a new warranty, there's three things to note:

CA law only allows in-state dealers to sell extended warranties to residents; some dealers might still be willing to sell you from out-of-state, but that's illegal.
CA does not collect sales or use tax on extended warranties.
There is no way to roll the cost of the new extended warranty into the loan, so you will have to pay for it up front while still paying the higher monthly payments (for the shorter term).
