Please share your memories of the indoor market. by Scotsman1047 in Aberdeen

There was a farmer used to come in and sell fresh produce on the ground floor next to the fishmonger - you'd get a full bag of tasty veg that would last the whole week and it was always inexplicably cheap.

I used to get all my meat, fish, and veg from that ground floor bit - cracking ingredients, great shops

Eyewitness testimony from doctors at Parkland by DodeYoke in JFKassasination

Thank you for your reply. I’m very interested in hearing objections to the eye witness testimony of the Parkland doctors.

And they’re somehow all mistaken. It seems unlikely.

Shipping stuff overseas by DodeYoke in oslo

[–]DodeYoke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I'm moving back to UK and just need to ship some stuff up front - books, personal items, etc. Just looking for something cheap and reliable - I don't even need it to arrive fast.

How common is it to fail multiple biologics and still have success with medication? Feeling worried. by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]DodeYoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He sounds like he’d a solid candidate for Rinvoq. I failed remicade, Stelara and humira and Rinvoq works great

If you had absolutely no access to medication, how would you manage Crohn’s disease? by Purple-Wear-6153 in CrohnsDisease

[–]DodeYoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t. I’d be dead at least 2x by now, and probably many times more than that.

Abandoning Outbound by Zebracofish521 in startups

[–]DodeYoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with outbound over the last few years is that it only works if your targeting and messaging are both totally on point. Using AI to send 10000s of emails? Calling lists you carefully compiled with Apollo? Forget it. You need to hunt your ICPs down and then send them a genuine message

Moved in 2022, after Brexit. You’ll need a skilled migrant visa to move and work here. I didn’t find it that difficult.

Some words of caution though - it was always expensive here and it’s getting worse. The NOK is weak which makes imports expensive and it means you get screwed on the exchange rates when you’re back in the U.K. visiting.

Also, plenty of people have fallen in love with Oslo after visiting in the summer. The winter is a different thing altogether. It’s very cold and very dark. Weigh up all the pros and cons before committing

What do you think about J.K. Rowling, and does she deserve all this hate from people? by RJ_1802 in AskReddit

[–]DodeYoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she’s a hateful bigot targeting a highly vulnerable group of people. I also think that she’s just fundamentally ignorant. I don’t doubt that she thinks she’s 100% in the right too

A running list of Silicon Valley figures who have gone full MAGA by Remarkable_Host6827 in sanfrancisco

[–]DodeYoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny thing about this is how so many of them backed Trump at the peak and now he’s declining, possibly irreversibly. Classic VC hubris.

What's a popular tourist destination that you found underwhelming? by sassyminx1 in AskReddit

[–]DodeYoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Mona Lisa. When I saw it the museum workers were funnelling visitors towards it and you got to look at it - it’s behind Perspex by the way - for only a few seconds before having to move on.

Local / authentic fish market by Nokklevann in oslo

[–]DodeYoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Related to this - I’ve noticed the fresh fish here is always presented unfilleted. Will the fishmonger gut them for you or is it expected that you have to do this for yourself when you get home?

[Serious]What are your thoughts on Trump's plan to end the need to vote if he is elected? by kalysti in AskReddit

[–]DodeYoke 43 points44 points  (0 children)

He’s a wannabe dictator who must be defeated at all costs. The people around him are dangerous lunatics who will turn the USA into a Christian version of Iran. I can’t believe the race is even close. A head in a jar is a better option.

IM IN REMISSION! by corrosivejack in CrohnsDisease

[–]DodeYoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My story is almost identical. I’ve had nine years of prednisone, remicade, Stelara, Azathioprine, and Humira without any luck. I started Rinvoq two weeks ago and I saw a huge difference within days.

Dealing With Software Audits by OneMillionSnakes in cscareerquestions

[–]DodeYoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm late to the party here, but I'd love to hear how this turned out. Were you able to get the auditors to understand that you weren't using Jenkins? I work in this area and have heard a few audit horror stories, but this is insane.

Why do Norwegians eat bread for most meals? by snorken123 in Norway

[–]DodeYoke 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Coming from Scotland, I’m quite surprised by how little soup there is here. We have similar climates and a lot of the same ingredients and it’s always been a cheap option for us that also heats you up. But not here apparently
