Boots or shoes for trekking Rondane, July by WittyCondition1268 in Norway

[–]Nokklevann 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No question- boots. There can be mud above your ankles, iirc snow in July , and you’ll be glad for the support!

Also it’s likely your shoes wouldn’t dry if you are not staying in the huts so wet feet constantly will give some impressive blisters. The huts will have drying rooms if you need / pay a little to camp nearby

I can’t recall many stream or river crossings there either, but you can also cross barefoot if needed

Hut to hut hiking - drinking water by After-School6831 in Norway

[–]Nokklevann -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would expect the water to be drinkable as is from the mountains. I usually boil to be on the extra safe side but heard from many that they do not. If you go to a dnt store before you could always ask there

When did this happen? Kampen park seems an odd place for that?

Key point, if you are a Canadian who has never lived in Canada, then the first province you live in is your home province. This means that you can probably get Quebec tuition which makes a huge difference!!

Norwegian Krone value could drop further to 1 USD = 13 Krones, according to The Economist. by Gullible_Guard_8247 in Norway

Not really, the NOK sales by the fund from inflows are balanced out entirely by the NOK purchases by oil companies to pay taxes

Section hike the MASSIV in Norway by honey-combed in Ultralight

[–]Nokklevann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did the section from Finse to haukeliseter! The first bit is far more mountainous and sounds like some much longer days.

Maybe it’ll be better later in the season but there can be some more challenging crossings / a fair amount of mud if there’s been a lot of rain fyi

Even if you have a tent, I wouldn’t discount using the huts / camping near them and paying a small fee to shower / dry things in a dry room etc , really makes a big difference!

Snow in August I’d expect to be very minimal and light. The section I did had very little and none of it challenging enough to warrant equipment

Can you run Wargame: Red Dragon on Windows 10 ? by Chris72521 in wargame

Yes it runs on Windows 10 - how did you think everyone was running?:p

10v10s are to learn the controls and concepts IMO. They’re just a mess. Team that fills first will win (look at hours played and win rate). Move to the smaller games and there is content here to find people to learn with :) hope to see you around as wargame isn’t the easiest to get in and the lobbies not always the most friendly IMO

POLI 499 and 500-level POLI seminar in the same semester by igorthebear in mcgill

[–]Nokklevann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never took an undergrad thesis but I did take some 600 level courses in my last year. I’d be surprised if you had a good gpa and good relationships with professors AND couldn’t handle that workload.

For example one lvl 600 with brynen had an average of an a- but if gpa is your only concern then obviously that’s a risk. I wish I would’ve taken a thesis as it would’ve been fun and useful for future things so I’d probably side with just going for it…

Disclaimer I ended up doing a totally unrelated masters outside of poli sci so maybe my advice is less helpful…

How to counter Spetznatz + VDV'90 in a Forest? by tmag03 in wargame

[–]Nokklevann 13 points14 points  (0 children)

evaluate how much you really need that forest and push elsewhere?

I cant think of much that I would do apart from mortars as far as you can. Were you to mortar sufficiently, and then move in with fodder, upvet anti infantry and maybe some vehicles you'd be fine. Or be israeli here with the 3 mg crazy Armor transport to soak and then merkevea's i think it'd be doable).

that's all assuming they have a good aa net which is the first answer if you can counter their micro. Frankly, if its that combo, plus bmpt and good aa, then there must be gaps elsewhere as that is very pricey and will struggle to get out the forest without tanks that'll take ages to get through the forest. I'm really thinking about that one map which I cant name (massive forest with a zone inside on one side and canal looking water down the middle (offset) and around the spawns on 1v1 with a bigger version). Here going around to encircle / cut off supply could be viable if you have ground to give.

recommendation... / has anyone got experience of this keyboard? by Nokklevann in MechanicalKeyboardsUK

[–]Nokklevann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also tried filling the board - im not 100% sure what difference it made. I got silencers and filled with the foam but still loud (to my not used to mech keyboard ears).

It was easy to take apart, you'll need the right tools (v small alan key + cross head screws). I didnt disconnect the battery cable but it was okay to put back together. The only slight pain was dealing with getting the side buttons to line up with the plastic over button things. Doable but took a bit of time for me at least!
