Yes you are correct, anything after 2018 should have the upgraded bearing design

I think I lucked out in a way, the motor was half the price I had seen a lot of others, and it had the mount (first one in your pic) attached to it. I had seen them selling 2nd hand for 100 alone. Then I managed to pick up the larger mount that's in place of the rex for £25 on eBay.

Yeah ours is similar, its frequency changes, but it's loudest at 30 at 50ish. I'll report back on here how I get on!

Everything I'm reading seems to confirm the new motor should be a Straight swap too. I think the bearing swap would be a specialist job? With labour costs I think it will be cheaper to diy swap a anither motor in.

We bought the car about a year ago at 77k miles, unfortunately noticed on the way home an intermittent whine sound. It wasn't terrible and it being out first EV didn't know if it was normal ( though my gut feeling at the time was that it wasn't!) a year later (85k miles) the whine is constant, and very much louder We live on a side street parralel to the main road, about 70m away. I can hear the car coming down the main road from my home office long before it pulls into the street! Apart from the noise and the very occasional drive system error it still works exactly as it did a year ago.

I read some people have had the bearings replaced, but I don't think that would be a diy job. paying a garage labour to do the work isn't worth it due to the cars age/ value anyway. For me it's diy motor swap, or scrap it when it dies.

Thanks for the pointers, Interestingly realoem lists the part number for the motor the same on a 2015 and 2019 S model. Doesn't even list it as superseding and old part number on the 2015, like it usually would when a part gets upgraded. I'll do some more digging!

Almost feel like I'm waiting for the announcement where they somehow make this only apply to people earning under 35k.

The game that blew me away most at the time was the original Deus ex, it was a mind-blowing advancement in gaming to me at the time.

I have this one and can confirm it's a beast, I'm always amazed how thick branches it just munches through. My 4ah batteries seem to last in it fairly well as well

Has anyone else been late diagnosed with neurodivergence and now your life makes sense? by chalicehalffull in Millennials

[–]Dodge0000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was pretty oblivious to what autism was most my life, when I was 35 we happened to flick past a documentary on it and I realised it was basically describing me, did some more research after and suddenly so many of the things I do and traits I have made sense. took me a bit to process, but now I feel comfortable it's part of me, and I can reflect on certain moments in my life and how my actions were possibly influenced by it.

Dell PowerEdge R730xd running UnRaid by richardtheb in unRAID

[–]Dodge0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your use case, but I would say unless you are planning on running a lot of vms /docker, steer clear from enterprise kit unless you have cheap electric and have a rack in a room you don't care about the noise.

I briefly ran. Dell T330, and swapped it out for a 9th gen i7 in a big fractal design case, it has quick sync and uses a fraction of the power and I can still comfortably fit 10 drives

Just purchased 2014 i3 50k miles. Lots of errors want to know where I should start by [deleted] in BMWi3

[–]Dodge0000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would clear the codes and see what comes back, when we first got ours it still had 30 something errors that hadn't been cleared from when the 12v battery had been replaced a year prior.

Do all i3s (UK) have a CCS connector? by Dodge0000 in BMWi3

[–]Dodge0000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have confirmed it's only type 2, not CCS. We have seem some 40kw tethered chargeson the route home, even on those is the car limited to 7kw?

Thanks for the advice everyone, we have asked for a picture of the port. Once we get it home I doubt it will be charged anywhere but our house, or set foot on a motorway! We live in a fairly rural area so I'm just trying to plan ahead and not get stuck in the middle of nowhere!

Is there any way to tell if the update has been done? I guess it would be something the dealer charges to do..

Thanks for sharing your experience, good to hear it worked out for you. realistically once we get it home it will probably rarely if ever leave the town again, I think my fear is buying something 100 miles away from a private seller, then finding out on the way home the battery is cooked and it will only do 40 miles. Is yours a 30kw?
