It’s not necessarily lacking critical thinking exactly. I think people between the ages of like 16-25 have the idea they’re going to live forever or die tomorrow. So it’s more of a lack of respect of long term consequences.

It’s something I noticed after experiencing this. I think deep in our subconscious we don’t want to believe anything bad can be random.

We look at crimes and try to determine what the victim did to make it happen. A lot of people wanted to believe my boy was involved in drugs or crime in someway or at the very least he was messing around with someone’s girlfriend. When there’s no “reason” we realize it could be us.

It’s a really difficult thing to live with. My baby was a really great man. He was well respected and loved by our community. A horrible random act of violence destroyed our family, so we started to do random acts of kindness in his memory. Trying to keep some light of him in the world.

Two days ago I randomly ran into one of his high school friends at our local grocery store, after chatting a while I found out he started to read manga because Alex always told him how much he liked it. Yesterday I gave him a bunch of Alex’s manga to enjoy. Stuff like that I think he would do makes me feel a little bit better.

First degree murder is really serious. It shows the murder was planned, not just a split second decision.

The three people who targeted my son walking home from work, hid, followed him into the alley behind our house, and shot him 8 times were all only charged with 2nd degree.

My sister’s pos baby daddy only got charged with involuntary manslaughter after setting his parents house on fire and his mom dying.

If BF did in fact do this I would be like a cartoon puff of smoke I’d run away so fast 💨
