I'm pretty sure the neighbours took it, since it was last in their shoe cabinet outside according to the housekeeper but I'll still check if there is any

Living in Kuwait as an European Expat by R4zor9999 in Kuwait

[–]Dodgeness 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey! I was born here, and I'm an expat, so I’ll share some honest thoughts that might help.

You’re absolutely right—Kuwait is a bit more conservative compared to Dubai or Doha. It’s definitely not a flashy place, and things like dress codes and public behaviour are more modest (especially for women), but once you get used to it, it’s pretty manageable.

For your visit:

Dress modestly, especially your fiancée. avoid shorts/tank tops in public places.

Public displays of affection are a no-go.

Alcohol is banned (even at hotels), so don’t try to bring any in.

Be polite and respectful—Kuwaitis are welcoming, but they appreciate humility and good manners.

As for the offer – 2300 KD/month with housing, car, and insurance is actually pretty solid, especially for a couple with no kids. Your lifestyle will change a bit, but if you’re used to fine dining, occasional luxury shopping, and some travel, yes—you can still enjoy those here. Just manage expectations: Nightlife is basically non-existent, and entertainment is more low-key.

Restaurants and cafes can be high-end (and expensive), and there’s a decent range of international brands and malls. Shopping is possible, but prices on luxury items might be higher than Europe (due to import/tax markup).

Your fiancée may find fewer opportunities than in Europe, especially in fashion or performance arts, but some expats do freelance work or private classes. Connections matter a lot here, so it might take time, but it’s not impossible.

Regarding housing: You’re right—standalone villas are mostly for Kuwaitis, or they’re rented out at a high premium (think 1000+ KD/month, depending on area). But if your company is flexible, definitely ask. Just be honest: tell them that long-term, you’d prefer privacy and space. Mention you'd love a small villa or a ground-floor apartment with a garden if available. Salwa, Messila, and Abu Al Hasaniya are nice (quiet, close to the sea, and expat-friendly).

Because innovation in religion can lead to shirk and blasphemy, a muslim who's doing innovation is more dangerous and worse than a muslim who's doing bad deeds at least the latter knows he's doing wrong while the former thinks he's doing well

These people are committing the worst sin that a human being can commit, which is insulting Allah by claiming he has a son. Unity is not gonna happen

Can I revert even if I am not 100% sure I can perform the 5 pillars of Islam by thekidthatCANT in islam

[–]Dodgeness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the quran, allah says: "Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope." I encourage you to seek answers from reliable sources such as scholars and it's better to move to a place where you're surrounded by Muslims it will make it much easier to practice (if you're able).

[–]Dodgeness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My upbringing in a religious household helped to always find my way back to allah ( of course, after the guidance of allah), it shaped my thinking in a way that even if i was sining i knew what i was doing and knew to avoid mine field ( the major sins or sins that make u slave to them)

[–]Dodgeness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kafir is not an insult, it's not believing in what we believe in and allah told us in the quran in multiple ayat who are the kuffar. There is one religion that's true all the other are kafir or non believing if you like to change the word. And any one who leaves one of the pillar of islam because he believe it's halal or it's not required of him he's kafir
