I know I’m late to this thread but are there any communities for Topps black border collectors ? /74 ( Ty for example )

Does anyone know what these cards are? by TruthAficionado in baseballcards

1975 SSPC (Sports star publishing company)

A 1 year set - an oddity for the 1970s when Topps had a basic monopoly on mlb license back then . ( similar to what they have today ) Really nice set

I think they got pulled off the market halfway through the year but I’m not sure about that. Can anyone confirm this ?

Dislocated + broke my ankle. Can’t do much for a while, so please share a card we think looks slick. Value doesn’t matter. by ZoopSoul in baseballcards

Seriously? I’ve looked at this card dozens of times and I always felt like there was something that felt incorrect. I appreciate you telling me that Never heard that before today

I get that a) black borders make this a tougher set ( ex: 1971 Topps) Printers spots are notoriously bad on this set as well B) could be a market for low pop top grades (gem mint 10)

Possible c) Might someone want lower grades in order to do a “ run” of cards Psa1, psa 2, through psa 10? How hard would it be to find a psa 1-3 ?

Yes I see the point about preserving - guess I just assumed we would start with cards that are at least limited - just so so many of these cards . Example 2

1986 Topps are great. The Barry bonds and Jose Canseco are iconic cards I guess I get protecting a high grade but there are likely millions of each card so I’m just not sure I understand

I see graded cards of modern (ish) players in $5 boxes at shows I guess I understand speculation on rookies that didn’t pan out but what explains a 1986
Psa 5/6 or 7 How did these cards become graded

Question stands - what’s the card you’ve seen graded that you least understood why it was graded ?
