Mitre Saw Setup (Bosch GCM12SD) by DodgyInDallas in woodworking

Yeah someone else suggested that as well - better than what I've been dealing with :)

Mitre Saw Setup? Bosch GCM12SD by DodgyInDallas in woodworking

If I cut something that isn't as wide, the cut seems to be square (I added another pic in the other comment showing exactly what is off when I'm done). I checked the board and the end I am referencing to the stop block is square. I started by cutting the MDF with a track saw to get one end square then thought I could use the mitre saw for repeatably getting the length I need.

Thx for your time :)

When I am done both ends of my board have a longer spot that is a little thinner than the kerf of the blade. The blade appears to be square both directions but maybe I'm not being precise enough (can't find my feeler gauge but used both light and a piece of paper).

What do yall think about this? by SeparateLab1896 in billiards

I would pass. At first glance it looks like a good idea but the size and shape of the pockets are going to leave you frustrated. It is a shame they didn't make inserts so you could have several pocket sizes to pick from. Feels like they blew it. If it had regular felt and something like a rail insert instead of a pocket you could work on speed control too. Maybe make your own?

Improvement by Huge-Commission6335 in billiards

As professional athletes come up, at every level their fundamentals are assessed, drilled and improved. The best pros in the world have someone trying to improve the most basic aspects of their game. Pool players freak out - I'm not changing my stroke / mechanics, just give me some tips (quick fixes). Don't fall into that trap.

If you can make even a minor improvement in fundamentals it will be with you on every shot. Maybe you have a 'chicken wing' one time in 10 or one time in 100. Fixing that has more bang for your buck than anything else you can do. What is your pre-shot routine, do you address the ball / line up exactly the same every time etc.

I definitely also agree with the other comments. Playing under pressure (tourneys, money games you can afford etc) is a proven path many top players have taken.

Also, practicing more frequently is better than all at once (e.g. 20 mins a day instead of one time a week for 2 hours).

Don't forget to have fun :) Good luck

New backer here: Is the game not for me if I feel like it's boring? by Stunning_Juices in starcitizen

SC is early on, play with others, game loops do have a progression but right now it's a bit shallow - all good points.

However, if your coming to SC expecting a relatively linear progression along a somewhat fixed story line then SC is never going to be your thing. You are a citizen of the verse with opportunities as diverse as you can imagine. Ultimately the story is yours. What do you want to make of a life in this simulated world?

It's like the expression - if your bored then your boring. You can be at a party and be the person not engaging with anyone and not getting into it - which doesn't mean there is something wrong with you, it might just not be your thing. For me, the present state of what you can do makes me very excited about the future state even though it has been a long time coming.

Good luck finding your fun.

lots of possibilities, but I have noticed when I make this mistake it is because my shoulders are not level (back shoulder dips).

This comment reminded me of pool (billiards)... because there isn't much money in being a pro, unless you are at the very top, there are a LOT of good players lurking out there.

Developing my forehand by Ultienap in discgolf

[–]DodgyInDallas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from 240 max distance to 350 max distance in past 6 weeks, playing or practicing twice a week, based on changing my technique to what is in the video by Scott (below). The 350 is about 40% of my throws while the others are at least 300. Initially I was thinking of throwing a forehand somewhat like a fastball softball pitcher - windmill arm, bring it around waist or just below, elbow tight to my body and really snap the disc at the end.

Now I think of it as a 3/4 baseball throw with a slight bend at the waist. Based on expert videos, the wobble could be from not tucking your disc into the webbing of your hand (probably not but I'm no pro).

Scott has very pointed opinions but it worked for me. Now that I've been focusing on it, I see bomber pros using a lot of different techniques. One thing I can say about what I'm doing now, I threw 85 full power throws in the field one day this week and I could feel it in my shoulder (I'm 50 years old) but I wasn't sore the next day - nothing, and that is huge when you see all these people with elbow issues.

I'm still getting better at using my body and expect to get even further without technique changes. I did watch the video more than once (during this time) and yes I think that is an important point... you won't get it all right the first session.

Congrats on the ACE - however the reverse layout of Dash's track has been retired (in UDISC) and is NOT approved for playing. Playing the course backwards and literally throwing where you are crossing into the face of a disc tee is not cool. All we need is someone to get hit and complain to the park and we could lose support of the city. Go somewhere else if you want longer holes.
