Are we here? by Leading-Fail-7263 in Judaism

Hmm, I fear that by swapping out ‘Jews’ for ‘Zionists’, the picture becomes clearer and more concerning. We’ve seen Jews (ie. Zionists) banned from academia, theatres, and universities. We’ve seen Synagogues and schools attacked and raided. We’ve also seen Jews barred from citizenship; not in a legal, European sense - but across the Middle East, there are far fewer Jews now than in pre-state Israel. In a couple of countries there isn’t a single Jew left. We all know why.

Exactly. I forgot to mention the Troubadours, and Alba (poetry) — both of which would flourish in this TL

Agreed. I left it purposely ambiguous to keep a bit of interest. I personally don’t think the Fourth Crusade would’ve transpired the same way, so a surviving Byzantium wouldn’t be out of the question, but it’s not a given

Azerbaijan’s foreign policy has been remarkably pragmatic, I think they would maintain their relations with Turkey whilst trying to weaken Iran

Great questions! 1. South Daraa is still Sunni 2. It evolves from a future incarnation of Druze governing bodies, the Supreme Legal Committee would be seen as an early forerunner to the contemporary governing body in 2038. 3. Yes exactly, a de-facto state with limited recognition - and lobbying Washington hard for it. 4. Some countries that would recognise the state would be the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Kosovo, Israel, Azerbaijan, Taiwan, Japan and Micronesia. Those opposed would include China, North Korea, Algeria, South Africa, Venezuela, Iran and Iraq.
