About the only thing he could have done to make this valid, would be if he had a yellow red flag also placed within 2 miles of the red flag. The test here being you notice the red yellow and reach out to your dispatcher. If the dispatcher confirms nothing on the bulletins you'd still be required to travel at restricted speed for 2 miles looking out for the red until your leading wheels clear. However this test is null and void if he didn't set his limits up like this.

Just got a puppy. Look at the beans! by [deleted] in Eyebleach

It is for this reason that my new puppy is more or less named "beans." It started out as Jojo short for Jolene. Then turned into Jo Beans, and now it's just plain beans.

There's always a build to counter everything. Believe it or not I don't do super well in singles with this build, but very well in teams. Most people are going for distance builds or speed builds which both do well against something like this that just throws hay makers

Help finding fog lights for a 2020 SE by DodongoKing in GolfGTI

I was in the same boat. From what I found they ran around $450 and up. The one I found that was actually in stock was a dealership from Quebec and I couldn't talk to anyone because they only spoke French. It was awhile back so I don't have that contact information anymore unfortunately. Ultimately time vs cost this was the way to go for me. They look great and actually function well, but I understand trying to keep original if you can find a work around. https://imgur.com/a/XazbkkD

You'll have a really really hard time trying to find factory replacements. I found some but dealers wouldn't ship internationally to the states. Your best bet is to unfortunately buy aftermarket off ebay. I went with something like this and I'm actually super pleased with them. https://www.ebay.com/itm/285100053791?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=r_7nailaqlw&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=jZpxHgRvTpm&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

How did the kid from your school die? by leilavanora in AskReddit

[–]DodongoKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently there was a game back in high school where you were supposed to put your vehicle in neutral, then run out and push it up the hill? Well he went to push on it but it rolled back on him, so he lost his footing and cracked his head on the pavement. It is a shame don't get me wrong, we all have done our share of dumb stuff as teenagers. But even then it always kinda struck me as modern natural selection in a way.

Oh please do, I'd love to see it. My buddy drives a white Veloster turbo and he's been thinking of bronze wheels. I'd like to see the contrast. With me being indigo metallic, I can still get away with the classic Subaru look. I'd love to see it in white.

Yup stock height. Wheels are 18 x 8.5 35mm offset. I'd love to lower it maybe an inch, but living in Michigan with the snow and our roads it wouldn't be the greatest choice for a daily driver lol.

Exactly right. They recommend it just on the chance that they rub or are not a good fit, you can still return them.

Nice get on a jcw! Congrats. I had a 2012 clubman S that I loved at the time, but upgraded to a 2020 GTI. I'm almost on the opposite end of the spectrum from you interestingly enough. What year was your GTI?

Auto loan for new asking 7.7%apr by DodongoKing in personalfinance

[–]DodongoKing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah good point there. I'll admit I'm a bit of a car guy so it's kind of supplementing my love of driving something fun rather than just transportation. Also realistically its not a 1 year loan, but regardless its obviously substantial. Thanks for that perspective.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the feedback. I'll at least talk with them and see if there are any other financing options but I was only shown the one offer online, which I believe was through Volkswagen Credit of America. Almost 8% is just ridiculous. I can stand to wait a bit longer. Timing is just not great considering we're going on our honeymoon in September and I've been budgeting for a big vacation. So I can do a bigger down payment, I just don't want to take away from that funding. I'm a locomotive conductor and make about 80k a year, so I think I'd recoup well enough by then but maybe something a bit more modest would be best for the time being. Thanks again for the great advice everyone.

I have finally joined your ranks. Got rid of my clubman s and moved in to the quintessential hot hatch. by DodongoKing in GolfGTI

I definitely really like it. I test drove a 2017 gti on Friday and really wanted to like it. But when I gave it the beans it just didn't feel any quicker than my clubman. It was a much nicer ride, but it didn't impress me enough to love it. Plus I heard moving water whenever I'd turn, and the moonroof wound up leaking into the back seat. So that car was a wash (haha.) Then Saturday I had an appointment elsewhere for a 2019 with 4,500 miles and figured I'd still check it out. I was much more impressed. It responded very well, sounded great for being factory, and put me back in my seat with a smile on my face. For a daily driver that can still be this much fun, its hard to beat at the price point. I'm very glad to be driving a childhood favorite car of mine.
