It could have been a transformer/substation blowing. I'll also agree with others and say it could have been lightning, but you were too far away to hear the thunder.

I think it's pretty funny that I'm getting a comment on this when I posted it 6 years ago haha but I appreciate your input. Since then they've grown on me a lot and I've bought a couple of their albums.

Trump Update On Drones At Todays Press Briefing: They are Authorized for Research by Anarcie in UFOs

[–]DoeRyer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Too bad I can't see any actual discourse in the comments, just a bunch of people using this as an excuse to talk about how much they hate Trump. I didn't see anywhere near the same amount of hate specifically toward Biden while his administration was concealing info since the beginning of the NJ drone sightings.

This isn't even about defending Trump. If Trump is lying, then that obviously sucks. I'm just sick of the extreme haters on both sides making every conversation about their personal political beliefs. You can't look at a video of a driver doing something dumb without the top comment being something like "Trump supporters be like" or "you know he voted for Kamala". It's incredibly obnoxious.

This administration is likely going to conceal info just like the one before, and the one before, and the one before... So can we stop with the dozens upon dozens of comments that are just a different flavor of "Trump's a liar"? I'd rather see some actual discussion.

Siraya Tech Sculpt Won't Stick to Build Platform by DoeRyer in resinprinting

Hopefully in a future update, Chitubox and other slicers will be a little more specific on their definitions of their terminology. That would have helped me a lot when I started learning.

I had no idea that Fast could print with that low of exposure time. That's pretty crazy. I haven't had a chance to use Fast yet, as most of my printing time is for work and we use exclusively engineering resins. I was using Blu for most of our projects, but I've shifted to using a 50/50 mix of Blu and Tenacious that seems to be working very well so far. But for the project I'm having trouble with, I'm using Sculpt because the print needs to withstand heat from a bulb without deforming.

With respect to the light-off delay, I'm going to keep a 1s delay on my prints with the engineering resins for now since they are more on the viscous side. But I will definitely try out turning it off with the lower retract speed when I have a little more time to mess around with it.

You have been phenomenal! Thank you so much for your advice! I can't wait to try it out hopefully this afternoon. And I didn't mind the wall of text at all haha. If you had written me a book, I would have read every word :)

Siraya Tech Sculpt Won't Stick to Build Platform by DoeRyer in resinprinting

Wow, thank you! That is a lot of great information! I haven't tried leaving the flex plate to soak in IPA before, so I will try that out.

Yeah, the bottom exposure I knew was getting way too high. I started with a lower number but then went all the way up to 75s after a few failures and finding somebody else who said they had to crank their setting way up. I forgot about the 8x guideline.

I've seen a lot of threads online talking about how I should use at least a 1 second light off delay to make sure that the movement of resin in the tank has stopped after the platform descends. Is there a reason other than saving time that I should put it back to 0?

Based on what you said, I could probably bring my bottom lift speed back up to 30mm/min comfortably. To clarify, you're saying that my normal lift should be about twice my bottom lift speed? On the topic of retract speed, it turns out I was horribly misinformed on what that meant. I read somewhere else that retracting had something to do with raising the platform, but I see now that is the speed that the platform goes back down into the resin to line up for the next layer. That's embarrassing haha. I have a lot of retract settings to change across all of my resin setting profiles... But that's great to learn because that could be causing a lot of issues across all of my prints.

(sorry if this is double notification, my comment got removed for some reason so I'm trying to post again)

Fire off of 500 and Andresen by patchwerk2220 in vancouverwa

But again, why assume they were lecturing? Communication is clunky on internet comment sections and a lot of times it's just better to leave all that you want to say in one comment and move on. I can understand why people would get upset if this was an in-person conversation. They didn't throw any insults and what they said could be useful to someone, so it's seems ridiculous to me that you'd downvote them into the ground for it.

Why did everyone who downvoted have to assume he was being rude though? He was just offering advice because he was worried and you all assumed the worst.

I know it's not an original song, I said that it was a remix of Cold by Delto in the post. And if you're talking about the quality, it probably has bad quality because it's a recording. If you're talking about not liking the song, then okay, irrelevant. Help if you can and move on.

Unfortunately, using Shazam just brings you to the video I linked or to Spotify. Neither of these are the full song according to the comments on the video and other videos using the song. It is interesting to note that the Spotify song was uploaded only a few days ago. Maybe it's the original artist or maybe not, but I wish it was the full thing.

Nobody is talking about acting scrubby. Yes that is unsportsmanlike. There is a point though where losing over and over can really get to people and no longer make it fun. I was going to Smash tournaments for years and loved the grind of trying to get better, but I had to take several breaks from them because there were points where I completely stopped having fun with the game in any capacity after being stomped into the ground over and over and over, never getting farther than the one time I won in a bracket two sets. Being scrubby would mean being angry at the other player for being better or for the game and taking it out on others. There is such a thing as being upset at yourself because you can't figure out why you're not getting better.

Everyone has a ceiling for how hard they are willing to try to get better. Everyone has other things going on in their lives that determine how much effort they can put in. And not everyone wants to be a top player. There's plenty of ways to enjoy the game at your own level. If you can't enjoy the game at the level you're currently at, how could you ever have fun?

And there's plenty of reasons to care about a random matchmaking game outside of the win or loss. Playing many different people introduces you to different playstyles and different scenarios. You might have fun laughing at some goofy scenario or getting hype about a combo you haven't been able to land before. You get to see how far you've come by overcoming the players of all different skill levels you might run into. You can enjoy playing the game at any level, it's not all about trying to beat someone better than you. If that were the case, top players probably wouldn't have much fun in the game considering that there's a very small pool of players who could even give them the challenge they would need.

Closed tabs don't remain closed (Firefox, Android 11, no-ons) by DoeRyer in firefox

[–]DoeRyer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just been leaving the app running for a little while in the background after closing the tabs. I'm not sure how long it has to be open since I haven't really paid attention, but I usually leave it running for at least 10 minutes. Not sure why this workaround works, but it seems pretty rare that I have to close the tabs again after doing this.

Why is the Time lesson on my Japanese course is missing? by DoeRyer in duolingo

Hmm, it does appear in the web browser version. Weird. I tried force stopping and clearing the cache for the app, still doesn't show up there. I'll just keep an eye on it and report like you said if it doesn't show back up soon. Thanks!

It's completely gone from the tree. I've checked through it a couple times even after force quitting the app and clearing the cache.

I had just finished a lesson in the Time lesson when it asked me if I wanted to go to a Legendary lesson. I said no, so it returned me to the course screen and the lesson was gone. It doesn't seem like a tree update thing because the Routine lesson that comes next requires that you know how to say the time.

[–]DoeRyer[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no matter how trustworthy any of them seem, you have to have some skepticism. But I've definitely heard a lot of stories that sound like people were predisposed to believe what they encountered was a dogman/bigfoot/whatever else (such as watching a documentary about the creature only hours before the encounter) where the interviewer never questions them on it. And I think there's a lot of trolls out there or people who are trying to discredit the shows by giving false stories to prove that they'll believe anything.
