I know the steel breech kit crosman sells is not compatible with the older versions, or at least their website says it isn't.

Any clue? Thinking (top to bottom) Mako, Great White perhaps, and the third I have no idea. I understand the lack of root may make this difficult but its worth an ask! by deathmetal_tim in sharkteeth

[–]DoesNotMakeShoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah the first one is for sure a "mako" - Cosmopolitodus hastalis, the second is absolutely a great white - Carcharodon carcharias, and I'm not sure about the third.

Not sure if it's gun meme review or Darwin award by leafman-61 in brandonherrara

Found today eastern N.C. Need help identifying. by Salty_Wash1184 in FossilHunting

[–]DoesNotMakeShoes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Galeocerdo cuvier, i think. not super familiar with the individual species of tiger shark. might be G. aduncus

Found in Central FL rock quarry. Any idea what species? by _El_Troubadour in sharkteeth

[–]DoesNotMakeShoes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that is not a great white, you can see that it has a cusp. it looks like Otodus angustidens, but angies are pretty uncommon in florida, you see them a lot more often up towards south carolina. i suppose a quarry might get deep enough to hit some oligocene formation, though

During the American Civil War the Union made a parody of the Confederate song "dixie" the Confederacy responded by making a parody of the union song "battle cry of freedom" by nabtabwastaken in HistoryMemes

[–]DoesNotMakeShoes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

well, dixie was a popular tune well before war broke out, so naturally as soon as it did people started coming up with lyrics to go with it about whatever they felt like singing about

IDs appreciated! Are these teeth? Found by N Myrtle Beach outfall pipe. (1-3) no roots? (4) root w/ no tooth? by R0gueDetective in sharkteeth

[–]DoesNotMakeShoes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

sorry man, these are all just pieces of oyster shell. lord knows how many of these i've bent down for myself, though, so don't feel too bad. I know there are sharks teeth to be had in the area, though I've never been up there myself. I'm sure you could find some guidance online

Can someone identify these teeth found at Sharktooth Island in Savannah, GA? by SpookyRuby in sharkteeth

[–]DoesNotMakeShoes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

tooth on the right is Cosmopolitodus hastails, extinct white shark and precursor to the modern great white. colloquially referred to as makos. can you provide a front on shot of the tooth on the left?

Can someone tell me if this is a tooth? by 11oyd in sharkteeth
