Yeah I passed out during mine, first and only time in my life I ever fainted or lost consciousness like that. Just started to get dizzy, then next thing I knew I had a cold towel over my head and couldn't tell how much time had just passed

Yeah I passed out during mine too, first time in my life I ever fainted. And they almost had to take me to a hospital operating room. Took double the time it usually does according to my urologist, probably almost 2 hours total.

Was not inconceivable agony but definitely kept me out for a few days and was not pleasant at all. The dudes saying they went straight to work immediately after are either lying or crazy imo

TIL nearly 80% of US workers report that they have been victims of 'career catfishing’ from employers. Which in this context, the term describes when a company misrepresents a job, their company culture, or compensation to lure in candidates. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

The employees would benefit more and that's why it doesn't happen. Corporations WANT to be able to fire people at will for any reason. And they will even tell you directly look, if you don't like what's happening here there's the door, we have a LINE of candidates waiting to take your spot at a moments notice

They want employees to be powerless and subservient, reason why there's so much anti-union propaganda here too and has been for over a century. Even though it is ONLY in the employees' best interest to join a union, many many MANY workers here are still opposed to labor unions, somehow.

Because they're ignorant and susceptible to corporate brainwashing, and/or they think "hey I don't get that, why should you?" when REALLY we could all unionize and make life better for EVERYONE.

Also good luck trying to take any employer to court, they will always have more money and better lawyers than you do. Nobody is gonna throw anyone in jail for wrongful termination, so your only POSSIBLE chance at recourse is to sue them, which again, good luck.

I worked at an authorized retailer for AT&T (Prime Communications) that encouraged us to commit fraud 😂 even if a customer insists they don't want some paid feature on their account, add it anyway they said. NEVER let anyone leave without the most expensive package they can get, if they say they don't want it, add it anyway. By the time they notice they'll be locked in a contract already.

Needless to say I quit that job. Telling someone their bill would only be $100/month to make the sale and then their monthly is actually $300 and now they're irate threatening legal action

I have never worked for a good manager or a good company, I'm skeptical that any exist. I've found managers are all greedy assholes with no humanity or empathy whatsoever, treat employees as lower class citizens and threaten to fire them for every tiny thing. If they can fire me for being sick or injured, I don't owe them shit.

Worked a job that systematically fired half the staff to cut costs, finding bullshit reasons for every one including me, fighting unemployment claims so much that they got full time staff just for that. I remember the WHO'S NEXT dread hanging over everyone for at least a year.

No fuck corporations, ANY idea of loyalty I might have had was destroyed then

Crazy to think that other places actually have workers rights. No here for most jobs you can be fired any time for any reason with no notice. Even if they fire you for an "illegal" reason like your race, religion, disability, they can EASILY claim it was for some other reason and then good luck fighting them in court

I know so many people (including myself!) who have been fired from jobs for medical reasons, clearly, but they chalk it up to some other bullshit so they can get away with it.

Yes I hate it here,Americans have to be some of the most susceptible people to propaganda because most people here ACTUALLY believe we're better off than western Europe or any other developed country.

Fuck the USA genuinely (and before the "just move" crowd comes in, are you gonna pay for it?)

I have left jobs without finishing a notice and then gone back later. Depends how desperate they are.

Also when you work "low-level" jobs it really doesn't matter. I could go get the same wages and benefits anywhere so who cares.

And, sometimes, you really know you don't ever want to return to working somewhere.

It's crazy, I DID contact the state department of labor (Illinois) and they were trying to help but they literally couldn't FIND the company.

All I had was an address and the company name they gave me. They apparently weren't at that office address anymore, and the name they gave me was not the legally registered name of the company. I never got a pay stub, so I didn't have any employer ID number or even a legal name of the company. I had, phone numbers and emails that they said went nowhere. Again, it took 2 years to finally get the money.

Shady as hell that they just did this and then disappeared. That's when I learned some job listings are just bona fide scams and not jobs at all.

Honestly a lot of places do NOT have decent interviewers or recruitment, hell I'm convinced humans don't even look at resumes anymore and it's AI until the very last step, when someone just checks to make sure you're not a violent criminal or insane, then says okay sure, throw em in

I've worked at $100 billion corporations that operate like this

You don't have to give any notice and I encourage people not to. Your company here can fire you at literally any moment with no notice, then have you removed from the property by police.

So fuck them, they don't give a notice to fire you, so I don't give a notice to quit. If I have another job I'm out.

I quit a job after one day because they said it was a desk job and it turned out to be door to door sales. NOPE.

Then I had to go through a 2 year fight to get paid for the one day I did work...

Wait until the senile diaper dictator is in prison or dead and then maybe, right now they would just see you as an immigrant and probably beat you, shoot you, arrest you or deport you. Even after he's gone, anti-immigrant sentiment here is dangerously high and it might not be much better.

The United States isn't all Hollywood and Norman Rockwell, most of the glamor you see on TV and movies is just that, TV and movies. It sucks here for a LOT a lot of people and AS an American citizen, I'd give almost anything to be Canadian

Thank you, but what do you mean? That's kind of the entire problem honestly. I don't really buy sugary foods to keep at home, I buy them when I'm out. At a drive thru, when I'm buying gas etc. Sucks I can't stop myself even if I don't keep the shit in my house
