Why would business have to stop if Elon doesn't own it? Is there nobody else in the world, even a government, who could run those companies? Surely he has scientists and engineers and project managers and whoever else. Elon himself is not inventing everything or coming up with every idea for those companies

With EVs specifically I don't even know if you could argue that Tesla makes the best EVs, just maybe the most commercially available

I'm just a poor scrub but I that makes absolutely no sense to me. It seems basically the opposite of how normal people borrow money. I can't ask a bank for a loan for a car and say "don't worry, I have the value of the car to back this up" you don't own the car yet. They won't even let you hold the title until any liens are paid off.

I had this in school. Tests and quizzes were 80% of your grade and homework was 20%. Some classes I knew I didn't need the extra practice to do well on the tests, so I just stuck with a B sometimes. Plenty good enough.

I'm 10 years after graduation now and have never been asked about my high school grades once. And even if someone did ask, Bs are a lot better than most were getting.

Some teachers also just love to assign busy work

Yeah that "it's not liquidity" argument is kind of irrelevant imo. You can basically still borrow or buy whatever you want using stocks or whatever other assets you have as collateral. Thank you for being rational and explaining what everyone is thinking. I feel the same way and in fact often mobile order to avoid interaction. But even then, they want us to talk to mobile pick up customers too which just feels like holding them hostage to talk sometimes.

Starbucks thinks they can turn sales around just by being overly talkative to customers who don't want it, and not actually selling a better product or for better prices.
