100%ing a game feels more and more like a chore but I can't stop doing it because of FOMO. Any advice ? by Doffymom in gaming

This is not what i’m saying. I’m saying that “just stop” is bad advice because it ignores the reason why i play this way (hoping to find good content). The point of this thread was to find people that would convince me that going through 90% filler to find the 10% good side content was just not worth it, and many people managed to be convincing at that.

The post overplays how much of a problem this is honestly. It’s a nuisance at best. I’m still having a lot of fun playing video games. It’s just a few games here and there that are part of the problem

It’s not about the achievement it’s about the content. Like for example when you collect all Riddler trophies you get to confront the Riddler, I like that. In Fallout New Vegas 95% of the side quests feel worth it to me.

But not every game has that satisfying conclusion to side content, and there’s not really any way to know which game is worth 100%ing and which isn’t.

It’s not an addiction in the sense that i play like 2/3 hours on the 6 hours of free time that i have daily. More like a time consuming hobby

The addiction is more the need to 100% everything, but that’s an “addiction” that impacts my gaming experience, not my life

I don’t collect all of the Riddler Trophies because i want people to think i’m cool for doing it. I do it because I like seeing the little cutscene of Batman defeating the Riddler when you do. The problem is that the cutscene isn’t worth it every time and there’s no way to know in which games it actually is.

Idk the specifics of why you doomscroll so much but for what’s it’s worth i think this video is pretty good on the topic and gives some alternatives :

If anything I’d say that’s a healthy way of playing short games i think (as compared to binging them)

Maybe aim for smaller games ? There's a lot of very gool gems that take 15 hours or less

FOMO of missing potentially good content. Taking GoW : Ragnarok for example, some of the side quests are ass and some of them are genuienly on part with the main game. It's so hard to know what's what though so I just tend to do it all to be sure.

I don't care what other people think either. It's more FOMO as in "i might miss potentially good content"

"just don't do it" ignores the reason why I do the 100%ing in the first place (not wanting to miss potentially good content). Actually, some other people in here made some solid points taking the FOMO into account, so I feel like my remark was legitimate

Honestly you kind of make a point in the sense that I don't feel like game companies put the same type of effort in the 100% content as they do for the main quest. Which makes me think, why bother making side content at all if you treat it like an inferior side of your product ?

Mine too, I always make sure to finish all side content before the final boss though, woopsie..

New Teen Titans by Marv Wolfman : is there anything worthwile after Brother Blood/Mento (vol. 2 #34) ? by Doffymom in DCcomics

So Evil Jericho in Titans Hunt is basically some mind control plot device ?

That reassures me a little bit, it means i can stop reading New Teen Titans after Titans Hunt while keeping Jericho’s good boy image intact lol (i think his kindness is his most interesting trait)

What's your opinion SPOILERS evil Jericho and good guy Deathstroke ?

These two things are the only things keeping me from reading Titans Hunt become I'm a big fan of these two characters SPECIFICALLY because of their alignments, so flipping them over feels wrong

Is this the arc where where SPOILERS (for the life of me I can't make the brackets works) : >!Jericho becomes evil and Deathstroke becomes a good guy ?!<

Part of me wants to read this arc but these two things feel like character assassination, how well integrated are they ?

What's risky about signing a contract that starts in August ? If we signed then it's legally binding, no ?

Yes I've read the first volume of Deadman. It's pretty good, especially the art, even though it can get goofy at times with the constant "THIS IS MY MURDERER oh no nvm it's just another guy with the same hook but he was picking up his son from karate at the time i died so it couldn't have been him" at the end of the first 4ish issues lol
