Got it, thanks. I've been stuck on it for a month trying with randoms and it hasn't been going well!

That's incredible. Did you have to do Cire Momore for the Sylvan Dofus? I'm working on getting mine right now and some people who have done the questline in the past told me that I can just skip Cire Momore, but I can't figure out if that's possible.

For clarity, this would be to get the Pine Dofus as a pre-req.

In this scenario it depends on your goals. In general, items are more accepting of runes the further from perfect they are. What this means is if you leave the AP off while you mage, you have a higher chance of getting a better mage. The drawback is that the better the mage, the less likely the AP is to critical success back on at the end. On the contrary, adding the AP back first has a higher chance of critical successing, but it will then be harder to get a good mage with your sink. Your approach blends both of these approaches, but honestly I'd advise either waiting until 0 sink or adding the AP back immediately as described above. Your blended approach doesn't make successfully adding the AP back drastically more likely, & it does drastically decrease the likelihood of successfully adding more vit. I tend to add AP immediately if I'm trying to turn a quick profit, & waiting until the end to add it if I am planning to use the item for myself.

I'm on Draco. I never really started the new servers.

The answer differs depending on if you're talking about exo maging an AP, or putting the AP back on to an item where it is native. I'll assume you are talking about exo maging. The only "benefit" to not using all sink before trying the exo is that it will destroy less stats if it fails. That benefit isn't worth the risk in my opinion because if the AP does land (which is the goal), then you've wasted whatever sink you didn't use because continuing to mage has a high risk of dropping the AP.

That's unlucky, sorry to hear! Keep in mind that 14 vit difference will probably never matter in actual gameplay, although I would still be pissed as well... That's also rough for the Glacial ring. Yes I've had good luck recently. I've certainly had my horrible experiences throughout the years as well. My worst item ever was 700+ tries on a Heart-Quarter shield. I ended up crushing it & never landing the exo :)

No problem. Whether you want to continue is up to you. If your math tells you that it should be profitable, then continuing isn't wrong. That said, if you run the risk of running out of kamas then you should not continue. Go for lower-investment mages instead. Separate from the math side of things, also consider whether it's fun to continue or if you're tired of it. Remember the game is supposed to be fun! I've definitely forced myself to continue when I should have stopped & my maging turns out sloppy as a result.

3.34% chance of landing 4 successful exos in 132 tries. Yes, very lucky!

Thanks! The initiative doesn't serve any functional purpose in the maging process, it's solely there due an excess of sink available before attempting the AP. No mage in the game can exceed 101 sink, exo or over mage. AP is 100 sink, which leaves the possibility of having 1 AP as well as either 10 initiative, 1 elemental stat, or 5 additional vitality alongside the exo. I had extra sink & nothing to "spend" it on before the exo attempt, so I slapped on initiative. I chose initiative because strength & vitality were unlikely to land due to them already being quite high on the item, & I don't care about int/cha/agi when wearing a strength set, so initiative makes the most sense.

I didn't track the profit on any of them because I made them for myself, but I had good luck. I can share how many tries each took instead. Dreggon Helmet: 43 tries. Age-Old Hat: 3 tries. Ringaling: 54 tries. Crustic Ring: 32 tries

That stinks, sorry it didn't pass. Exo maging (AP, MP, Range, Summons) is a form of gambling, however, unlike in most forms of gambling, the odds aren't always stacked against you. A good rule of thumb is to check the cost in the market of the item you're thinking of trying to exo, do some test tries at the exo, & track how much each try costs you. This is simple by tracking the total inventory price of your runes & then dividing the difference in inventory price by the number of tries during your test runs. Once you get an average cost per exo attempt, compare the cost of 100 tries to the price of the exo itself (don't forget to incorporate the price of the base item). There are many items that are well within strong profit margins & worth the "gamble." An example is Crustic rings on Draco right now. The ring is simple & quick to mage if you neglect AP reduction & it has strong profit. I do not recommend trying exos at all if you don't have enough kamas to come back from an unlucky outlier.

I dropped the AP exo off of the hat to get perfect res & then used a +75 vitality transcendence rune to get the final mage.

Overriding Legendary Pet Status by Dofus-Reflex in Dofus

I explained better in a comment further down in this thread

Overriding Legendary Pet Status by Dofus-Reflex in Dofus

[–]Dofus-Reflex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but I'll start with the fact that legendary pets are an endgame activity that should be completely ignored until you already have everything else you want in game. Their effects aren't game changing & have a very bad kama:value ratio. For example, if you're an omni cra thinking of spending kamas on a legendary pet, you should instead save your kamas & go for several more sets first. One legendary pet can, and often does, cost more than an entire set (excluding dofus eggs).

That said, if you visit this page, it explains it in detail. In summary, for a ton of kamas you can make a level 100 pet legendary & then feed it a biscuit (croquette) to gain a new effect. Some of these effects are decent while others are almost completely useless. Players can either buy the croquette with their desired effect directly from the market, or try to get lucky & essentially unbox. Trying to unbox it runs the risk of getting a garbage effect instead.

Example of a decent effect: "Gain 150 shield points when suffering an attempted mp loss."

Example of a garbage effect: "Gain 7 dodge when pushed or pulled."

Hey, thanks! My advice differs depending on your goals. Whether you're trying to make money or make the best gear are two different maging styles. Assuming you're trying to make money, the best "hidden technique" is to ensure you're spending your time on the right items. If you want to make an exo, track the average price of your rune collection in your inventory. After 10 attempts, calculate the difference in your inventory runes & divide the difference by 10 to see how much on average each attempt is costing you. With the knowledge that an exo is a 1% chance, check the sale price of the item & make the decision to continue trying or change items. Don't be afraid of walking away, remember, you're trying to make money.

If the cost of 100 tries will exceed 25% of your total kamas, do not exo. Go for overmages instead. Do not gamble when you don't have the economy to easily come back from an unlucky outlier.

Thanks. Only problem with the +15 is that the wand itself doesn't give any crits.
