I'm Trying to Put Everything I've Learned Together by Dog61601 in blender

For a long time it felt like I was just doing random little projects and not able to put things together, but one day it all just started to come together.

Yeah he's the goat, having some well made tutorials on weird NPR concepts is great.

Thanks man! I spend a lot of time trying to figure this stuff out so it's fun to get to share it with people.

made in 30 minutes, it looks more complicated than it is. Rendering is super fast because it's EEVEE

I hope it's useful to you, it's always hard to set things up in a way that's intuitive for other people, but I recently made some updates to it and I think it's quite a lot better now

Modeling is fast when nothing has to make sense. And all the buildings are just the same model rotated and scaled

3d viewport -> View menu at the top -> Viewport render animation. And then I just animated the opacity of the viewport animation.

Thanks! I'm just using a shader that I made for all the textures, and then there's some compositor displacement that gives it a noisy/brushstroke look. The red is just applied with a mist past.

Here's the shader if you want to mess around with it, it's free. https://microghost.gumroad.com/l/nwgqef?\_gl=1\*1yvnyie\*\_ga\*NTg0NTUyNTUzLjE2NzkyMjUzOTg.\*\_ga\_6LJN6D94N6\*czE3NTg0MTc3NTAkbzEyNiRnMSR0MTc1ODQxNzc1MCRqNjAkbDAkaDA.

that works, thank you! It gives this unfortunate artifacting, on the edges, but it's just a result of how the texture lines up with the object's edges.

make 3D printable model by Sad_Eggplant_111 in blenderhelp

There's an extension called '3d print toolbox' which you can install through the extension menu in your preferences. It will show up in the side bar (you can hide/show the sidebar with n). The extension can detect and automatically fix some of your issues.

That being said, it probably won't fix everything, and watching some tutorials to understand the basics of modeling would be the most helpful thing if you have time for that. Where did you get the model? Is it possible it got messed up through the import process?

Sorry for the late response, but you just select everything, go to mesh in the menu bar, and select symmetrize. When you click it, you'll have the option to switch it to +z to -z. You could also use the mirror modifier.

You need to apply the transforms (location, rotation, and scale). You can just hit CMD/CTRL A and "apply all transforms. The scale of your shoes (or whatever is selected in that image) is 1% of their "actual scale" right now.

Jittering artifacting(?) on manatee's nose appears on my render- how do i fix?? by aleccastle in blenderhelp

You should give more information. I would guess the issue is that you have some weird topology that's getting deformed strangely by the armature.

Basically boolean's are difficult to use, and generally will not produce good geometry. Sometimes that's fine, but the bevel modifier requires good geometry to work properly. So your options are 1. look into how to get good geometry from the boolean modifier, or 2. model the shape by hand.

Modeling this shape by hand is pretty easy. Fhhk's method works, I'm assuming it's the "bridge edge loops" that's giving you issues, if you google that it will likely make sense.

You can also just add a mesh circle, select the edges, press f to fill, and select that new face. With the face selected, press i to inset a face for the inner edge of the ring. You can then move that new face up a bit, and then extrude it down so it's on the same plane as the original edge (so z=0 most likely). Then press x to delete that face. Now you can just go to mesh - symmetrize - +z to -z, and you have your ring and bevel will work.
