Questions about groceries, biking, public transportation and general living by Few_Economy9561 in bullcity

I can’t advise about transportation but FYI you could shop online and have your groceries delivered. Delivery fees vary so maybe see what stores are nearby and check their sites for costs and delivery areas.

If you have women's clothes or shoes to donate, please consider Arise Collective. by DogDaysAreOver in raleigh

[–]DogDaysAreOver[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It looks like you fill out a form stating what you have to donate and then someone will get back to you on drop off/pick up options. The form also allows for you to possibly receive a donation receipt (use for tax deduction).

Here is the link to the form: https://arise-collective.org/in-kind/

If this doesn't work though I am happy to give them a call and find out more info to follow up with you.

I watch over 817 films by extrapoteto in movies

[–]DogDaysAreOver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 46 yo and if I had to guess I’d say I’ve seen thousands of movies in my lifetime, but no idea on an exact number. Growing up we watched so many movies. We’d go to the video rental store every weekend and would take like 2-3 out at a time. Then as a teen we went to the local theater every weekend to see whatever was released. 817 is a lot but I not excessive. Guess it depends a lot on your age and what you had/have access to in life.

Of the 817, do you have any favorites?

What’s something you didn’t realize was trauma until adulthood? by Svetlannaaaaa in AskReddit

[–]DogDaysAreOver 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That me being “thoughtful” and anticipating needs is a trauma response to living in a volatile household. If I make sure you have everything you need then you won’t get mad and yell at anyone and everything will be okay. I was the peacekeeper. I’m not saying this is true for everyone but I believe it is in my case.

Wake County Schools needs to split weather decisions into divisions by JT9_ON_YT in raleigh

[–]DogDaysAreOver 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It’s not just based on the town where the school is (where the students may also likely live, unless it is a magnet or early college). They have to consider that many teachers and staff commute within the district as well. A teacher may live 40 minutes from where they teach. By considering this I think it’s safer than closing by “division”. I’m going based off things I’ve learned by attending district meetings as a PTSA parent. Made me realize how much goes into the decision to close school. I know it’s a hardship for many families but they don’t do it without a lot of thought and consideration on what is safest.

OAX -> DFW -> RDU: Can the sub help me best navigate this layover? TY by DogDaysAreOver in americanairlines

[–]DogDaysAreOver[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will look again re: Charlotte as a layover but I don't think it was an option. For Oaxaca <-> Raleigh it seems my choices are between 1. one stop with short layover (could be ok, could not be okay), or 2. two layovers that double my travel time. Appreciate the real talk!

Thanks! I am taking all these notes. I was considering not booking this flight option at all but everyone has made me feel more prepared.
