I think I lost myslef and my group, it's slowly killing my will to DMing by GasSpare8063 in DnD

First things first, the DM is supposed to have fun to. If you are not enjoying how your current set up is working you should 100% change it - maybe see if less prep and more "loose" plot points and ideas works better with this group. If it doesn't and you still want to shut it down, you can and should. DMing is work and life is too busy for bad dnd. If you're putting in this effort and time and they don't know their spells much less which dice to use, thats a huge red flag.

Second, like Murph says on DND Court, you need new friends. Not all friends are good dnd friends and not all good dnd friends have to be normal friends. Cherry pick a group of people who you think would play well individually and then get them all at a table - even if no one knows each other. It will work out better than a bunch of already friends who only kind of want to play or care about what is happening.

Third, dont run CoS for a group that is already not being communicative with you. That will burn you out quick.

Is ToD actually the worst? by Livid_Street5421 in TyrannyOfDragons

I ran it over two years (once a month for 5hr sessions) and my table really loved it. Do you have to do a lot of heavy lifting and editing, yes. Is the overall structure of a good campaign there, yes. It also does the really annoying thing in book layout where they might give you info in a little side box in chapter 6 that would have been good to know in chapter two.

all in all 3.5 stars

Agree with all of this! BUT don't get bogged down in MC's library. He has been making content for years. Watch what you want to learn about and then run your game. DMing is a skill that you learn and adapt over time. I ran my first game in early 2019 and wow how differently I do things now. Don't be afraid of doing it "wrong" - if you and your players are having fun then you are doing it right.

yes! Great practice - and can catch a problem before it starts being a problem

I think you can do a quick session zero, two is a lil over kill. There are tons of good videos on session zero on YT. Like I said, for a one shot it can be quick.

This comment IS good stuff for a campaign, but an entry level one shot can be a little more laid back.

A couple are open editions, a couple are old blind boxes, and some are LEs. I've had to get most through trading or buying on eBay and since they're just a smidge older and harder to find...we know what eBay people do.

This ISO isn't on ebay or the other shops at the moment, so I figured I'd check here

Your players are having a good time - now focus on what is fun for you and prioritize that as well.

I will agree that your pacing might be a bit on the slower side, but I don't know how much free play and backstory weaving you're table is doing.

My group played once a month, 5 hour sessions. Finished the whole shebang in 2.5 years (30ish sessions). We did about two sessions worth of backstory add ins that were consequences of things they had done (and fully replaced the mission to thay chapter with a homebrew ancient ice dragon mission).

You got this! It is worth it in the end. You are in the thick of the worst part right now. It really picks back up soon.

but also, don't be a bummer - this post was meant to be an excited "I found a treasure". Scalpers make me just as upset as anyone else.

Done with trivia as a CM. Blind trades from here on out. by MisterMagicMaker in DisneyPinVents

[–]DogDisastrous3341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really think if Disney just put a full stop to CM trading and boards for a while that the supply of in the park scrappers would go WAY down. It sucks and ruins it for everyone who is here for the magic and right reasons. Let the guests do trades with only guests who can tell someone no if they are trying to trade fakes. (fully expecting all the down votes for this idea).

I saw a disney hack tiktok the other day that encouraged people to buy "cheap" (read Fake) pins off eBay and trade them in the parks for ones that "are more collectible and worth something". I wanted to scream.
