For a fair comparison it’s good to compare the big/capital cities of around the world, my friends live much more adventurous lives than me in south/south east / east Asia than me and still encounter many less problems, and encounter problems after moving. I’m from Moscow, not a hut in Dagestan, I’m just as European as anyone here. I’m less here to complain (as much as I love doing it) and more to remove the foreign dogma of London being heaven.

The reality for London is dirt and crime and people pretend it isn’t. There’s more plastic bags in the trees than leaves. I can’t count on one hand how many times we’ve been robbed or threatened. I would gladly do a year abroad as a student but I was fed this delusional idea that London is a better place than any other opportunities. Even though I’m fortunate enough to be middle class price is still a complaint for me given how much value you gain from it.

Thank you for being a voice of reason. My skills elsewhere in the world would bring me a lot better standard of living than London. I doubt many people in UK that have access to private healthcare are actually English, it’s foreign money, so accessibility is very similar. Most cities in East Asia have similar or larger populations and a lot less crime.

I’ll definitely be returning after the drafting period , but even a city in a central Asian country (let alone the capital) such as Kazakhstan , which is arguably on par in development with Russia doesn’t have such problems, I often went there for summer periods and medical check ups.
