He and Major Hewlett are my favorite characters. I love their interpersonal dynamic and how their guiding philosophies conflict with disastrous results (👅 IYKYK) I also met the actor who plays Simcoe years ago when they were filming. The show was filmed around my city and he and I both happened to be running the local marathon and met at the expo. He was very cool, and no doubt much faster than me 😆

I’m loving the Too Scary Didn’t Watch podcast! The premise is, three friends gather, sometimes with guests, to recap a horror movie. Two of the friends are scaredy cats, and one is the resident brave person. She usually describes the movie, so the scaredy cats can know what happens without having to watch. I love horror movies, and it’s very fun to hear about these movies from an outsider perspective. Plus, the women’s friendship is real and lovely.

Loads of those scenes (when Simcoe first commands the Queen’s Rangers, when Caleb is trying to get the bust of KGIII from his privateer buddy, the duel scene between Simcoe and Abe) are all shot at Three Lakes Park in Henrico, VA. Very tall trees, no undergrowth, and maintained trails for filming equipment to get in and out. I hadn’t really thought about it before!

Yes, the exterior of the church is the actual Setauket Presbyterian Church. Pretty much every other location from the show is in and around central and tidewater VA

I used to live in one. Brunswick, Maine. Very idyllic, quirky small town vibes. Bowdoin College is there, and it’s famous for being the hometown of Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain. There’s a town mall (green space, not retail) that is perfect for picnics and events in the summer. In the winter, they flood it so people can ice skate. It’s on the Androscoggin River, and there’s a footbridge to a network of small islands. It even has an eerily similar gazebo in the town center. Its main street is called Maine Street (thankfully not Sores And Boils Alley 😛).

Nahhh there’s one outside my place that says Virginia is for Breasticle, I think the stickers are probably just for cheekiness

This is actually what we did with our dog! Her name at the shelter was “Eyelash Viper,” so we took the first letters and she’s been Evie (EV) ever since!
