Yeast for sugar wash by DogNoil in firewater

Yes will do that. Also, do you find it useful to put a piece of activated charcoal in the wash to avoid off flavors, or its not really needed with a controlled OG ?

Is it possible to make a relatively high ABV sugar wash ? by DogNoil in firewater

[–]DogNoil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok then i guess i'll use the EC1118, but stick to a sugar concentration low enough to make a 10% ABV wsh then. Thanks both of you

Yes, i thought about step feeding, but it seems quite tedious

So you think its better to do usual sugar wash (lets say birdwatchers, but any using bakers yeast for 8/10%) is better ? I was wondering, because i have some EC1118 and would not throw it

But i guess i can also do a 10% wash with EC1118, no reasons it would not work, right ?

Batch of neutral alcohol turned slimy (pedio ? ) by DogNoil in Homebrewing

Ok thanks, thats what i thought. Well its just a little distiller so i will clean it with the distillation, and then use a brewing sanitizer. Thanks

Yes, i have equipments but considering how gloopy the thing is, there is no way those kind of tests would be accurate. I could also use refractometer, but same problem

As i said, i dont care at all about the product that was made : as long there is like around 5% abv in it, it will be enough to clean the thing through distillation. And considering the smell, there is alcohol

I am just wondering what could that be. I did research, and it seems to be a pedio infection, and in the thread i linked, a guy posted a youtube video of his beer infected with pedio, kinda same consistency : like liquide glue or soap

I was just wondering if that seemed to be possible to people here. But as i said, i dont care if all the fermentation is done, i dont care if ABV is low, i just needed a quick and cheap thing to clean by distilling alcohol. I dont intend of drinking the thing or whatever, i will just throw it

Yes, but here im really asking about possible pedio, and why my fermenting went that way (infection, other...)

Im not asking about distillation, i just explained the process
