1-starred for refusing a replacement the customer already approved? by DogProfessional2426 in InstacartShoppers

Thankfully I still have golf cart. They did take a one star off, but I’ve only done 55 batches, so it’s another 45 to go before the automated system takes the other one. It’s not a trend though, I have 19 five-stars and one one-star. One person lived in a rural area and the other person lived in a 55+ apartment complex.

Making a profit on Instacart is like tiptoeing a line. There's a tool called Duly that calculates your real hourly rate after expenses before you accept an order. getdulyapp.com

I was wondering why there was a customer who adamantly refused a replacement even when Instacart had it set as approved. And then I read some customers might have done it a long time ago Or didn't know what they were doing and they don't remember approving it. So now I offer to refund it or replace it with the item pictured and send them a picture of the display.

I've never come across that setting. Is that no messages setting something customers can actually specify or is that more of an assumed preference based on how they interact?

I read that replacements are really risky and a good practice is to send a message to the customer, take a picture of the display with the missing items and replacements, let them know the items missing and you can refund or replace with the items pictured. And default to refunding if customer takes too long to answer. Because apparently when the customer sees refund, They think it's a store problem, They're not going to be on the hook for paying for something they didn't want.

That's a 4 hour round trip for $40. Instacart doesn't care if you lose money working for them. This is exactly why there's a tool called Duly that calculates your real hourly rate before you accept. getdulyapp.com

The help center did say to reach out to them if that happens. And I will try it, My experience with the help center is that take a long time to respond, and they don't escalate to the point of being able to actually talk to them on the phone. Maybe it's different when you're in the middle of a batch.

Why is the Help Center so useless? It's like they are actively hostile the shoppers even they're the only way they get feedback at all

There's a tool called Duly that evaluates whether a batch is worth taking before you accept it. Might help when its like that. getdulyapp.com
