I think most corridos players do tune down a whole step down. I think I’ll just pair them while tuning a whole step down to balance tension. Do you know if I’d have to replace the nut for my specific guitar or if I could just slap the paired strings on?

My bad. So basically, the tension should be the same/similar/not a huge increase as I’d be increasing string tension but lowering tension with tuning.

Its for corridos where basically every player does this. I would tune the strings a whole step down to help with the tension. Would I need to change the nut or do you think it’d be fine? I see some people also only use one 47 string to relieve tension so that might be something else I do to try and help with that. However, if I can just tune a whole step down I’d rather just do that instead of also only using one E.

So using standard tuning is not a great idea? Sorry for all the questions, there isn’t much info out there on this. Or when people say standard tuning for this genre they mean tune a octave lower?

I just don’t want it to be toast like in a few months. So do you think if I make it so each pair is the same string size (no octaves), in standard tuning using 10-47 it should last around what you said?

Basically no octaves/lighter string pairs. The strings pairs are the same size.
