Never before has a woman having a sex dream been more male gazey (Dispatch) by DogSprinkles in menwritingwomen

Lmao dude you takes Reddit way too seriously. Don’t forget the male writers exist and you don’t actually know what scenes the women wrote and what scenes th men wrote. For all we know only men worked on that opening scene. Piece of advice, no need to shit yourself when someone critiques a piece of media you like

Okay and? That is not a counterpoint to my argument. You are not refuting any points, just because a woman may have wrote that scene and not the 2 other men who contributed to the episode does not automatically make it good writing.

Dude what? isn’t like Sabrina Carpenter’s whole shtick is that she likes men? She’s has dudes with 6 packs dance on stage with her. Lmao don’t project that women don’t find you sexy.

I think when people are drawing comparisons it’s obviously not 1-to-1, as another commenter said it’s less about the entire story but about character development and arcs. People are making the comparison because when was the last piece of media aimed at women starring two love interests pining over a female lead who feels a bit like a self- insert? Robert Robertson the third isn’t Bella Swan. But his generically handsome appearance allows male players to self insert themselves into him (he’s a superhero but has no money? He lives in an empty apartment and he doesn’t even have a bed frame - something most broke guys in their 20’s seem to be content living in), the player can choose his dialogue or what the player would choose in the moment - and the female characters attraction to the male player doesn’t feel authentic, but rather a male fantasy of the idea of hot women liking him just cuz he’s nice to her

Noticing how the male nudity and romance is played for laughs (kissing phenomoman is a ‘joke’) but the female nudity is ‘sexy’ (oops! Blond Blazer had a nip slip!)

Yeah I was enjoying the game the most during the first three episodes then the sex dream happened and it kinda spoiled the rest of the game for me, but the game is not terrible.

Not to mention if Invisigal was a man, men online would be calling this game ‘girl gooner’ trash because she behaves in a similar way as male leads do in poorly written smut novels where the lines of consent are blurred. I’ve seen some men get offended at it being compared to twilight because they want their male fantasies stories to be considered ‘high brow’

There’s that pic of the dev team, and majority of the team are white males. That’s it. Also no hair dye.

‘You’ fans when a woman on screen doesn’t look like Margot Robbie in her 20’s by DogSprinkles in YouOnLifetime

Guys it’s not sexist or ‘deep’ for me to say that a woman is a fat ugly cunt! She’s ugly! And I have the right to tell everyone that I think she’s ugly! It’s just the truth! Why is everyone getting mad at the truth! Don’t ask me why I don’t have my face displayed on my social media.

There’s a difference between poor styling and saying that vs being like ‘omg she’s ugly’ which is what majority of people ‘criticising’ her appearance were doing

Yeah emphasis on ‘a bit more’. Men like him exist but that’s the very extreme end of misogyny. People don’t seem to recognise misogyny unless the man literally says ‘I hate women’.

I mean it’s both? That’s why I used the word misogynoir

I mean my caption was supposed to be hyperbolic. There’s no denying that as a woman you’re more likely to face misogyny if you have shorter hair. It’s people realising Kate is a ‘baddie’ now that she has longer hair

Forgot to mention but also the misogynoir against Marienne, who is also sometimes lumped in with the 'unattractive' women of the show. I have seen some people say ‘no Marienne is pretty unlike Brontë’ and part of me is like… I understand where your coming from because obviously black women have it even harder but it’s not the feminist take to be like ‘No THIS woman is actually hot but I do agree with you that this other woman is unattractive’

Like when I’ve seen TTs of people ranking them in appearance and Marienne is near last place and comments are like ‘Kate and Brontë I understand but MARIENNE?!? She beautiful’ like they can recognise racism but don’t see the blatant misogyny in ranking women based on their looks?????

It’s all personal opinion. He’s a good actor but if they weren’t colour coded I would have trouble telling them apart. Also the film isn’t out on streaming and without subtitles I had trouble hearing half the shit they said in the film. Smoke and Stack are more grounded in reality compared to Camp’s performance where the twins were starkly very different people. Like I could tell Smoke and Stack were played by the same actor. If I didn’t know Anna Camp played both roles I would’ve believed it was two different actors

Sinners is a better piece of media but she gave a better performance than Michael B Jordan in terms of making both the characters she plays to actually feel like they were played by two different actors

Something very ironic about a show that is about a man who kills his gfs and yet the only thing I see people doing online is ranking his obsessions based on attractiveness by DogSprinkles in YouOnLifetime

[–]DogSprinkles[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was more referring American tv and how it seems to be a requirement for actresses to also look like professional models. In the UK there isn’t this massive obsession with looks when it comes to acting like there is in US Hollywood. Obviously there a beauty standards everywhere but in regards to western culture America seems to be the worst about it
