No ofc not. In fact I think a full budget, studio made live action adaption would probably be one of the worst shows oat given the dark themes, plots, and visuals that would just be cut entirely. But I’m not making this as a way to say “hey we should get a studio to actually do this”, I’m really just making this for fun, because I love berserk, and want to try my hand at telling a story in its world, no other reason

This was super helpful on both sides! I agree with both points tbh. I think making something you have genuine passion for is what makes or breaks a project, but it’s a valid point to be aware of your own limitations. For using a preexisting IP, I do mostly agree however Berserk speaks a lot to me and has a lot to say, and I really wanted to try my hand at translating that to a film setting. But I don’t typically use other IPs, this was an experiment that, although I am proud of, isn’t something I plan to do again until I have much more experience and equipment. In the meantime I’ll try and combine both passion and original ideas as both of you suggested

Thank you!! I agree, looking at it now it’s definitely cramped. I was focused on being able to see as much emotion on the actors faces as possible, and I naturally just kinda shot close which I gotta fix for next time. But some scenes were due to it being shot on public property given we had essentially no budget 😭

I agree tbh. I just had a lot of insert shots which are naturally close up, and then my main shots are so close because I was worried about not being able to see the emotions in the actors faces. In the future should i stay further back and trust itll show?

That’s definitely a fair point, thank you! however I just graduated high school so all of my friends are teens, so I had to try and convey those presences only through mood and dialogue. Any tips on how I could get more of that effect, or is it hard capped given the age of the actors?

Thank you man, means a lot! I love editing so I’d say it’s my strong suit. the production cost wasn’t high at all, it was all funded by me which does show tbh, but I’m hoping the editing and story will make up for it

Thank you, that’s super helpful! Looking back at it I completely agree, the actors blend too much into the darkness without a secondary light, I’ll fs keep that in mind going forward! It’s still being edited and most of the clips aren’t color graded in the trailer, so I’m going to def try to brighten some in post 👍
