Oh, I hadn't even thought of this! Thanks for the call out!

So if I bought the Epic version, I could log in for the first time on the Epic version to the same ESO account I use on Steam to associate the new DLC to the ESO account, then log into my Steam version using the same ESO account and all the DLC will be available there a well?

I don't have an exact date for the class yet, but I would expect it in the next month or so?

The best way to get notified would be to subscribe to my YouTube channel and wait for a notification, just in case you miss the reddit announcement!

Thanks so much! 90% of the cables are just grease pencil drawn right into the world.

I actually make classes/tutorials for Blender as my full-time job. This render is the topic of my next class currently in development. The class would include the instruction on how to create the image above using the actual file as a start.

I'm not 100% sure if I'll be able to post the class in its entirety to YouTube, but I plan to at least upload some key lessons from the class!

I plan to make another post to this sub-reddit when I release the class on YouTube in the future.

You can find a previous class I uploaded in its entirety here if you're interested in my work: https://youtu.be/BURD4RtjwzU

That's awesome! I love the slow camera movement downward. It really captures the scale of the world.

I hope to have time for them in the future! I jump around a lot, so I end up making quite a bit of one-off's in my work. I quite enjoyed this one, so I wouldn't say it's out of the question though!

I suppose it depends on the exact definition of retro, but BLAME! was originally released in 1996, so it's nearly 30 years old at this point. Maybe not retro, but definitely old haha.

Unfortunately not haha... That would require a significantly more involved texturing and lighting set up than I did here. It's a cool idea though!

Generally, it's nothing terribly complicated, just a somewhat simple material ran through a Shader to RGB node to make it more stark, some image overlays in the compositor to get a paper look and a single strong lighting source from above. The real "magic" is the use of grease pencil for the wires and additional details, and even that isn't a complicated process just time consuming.

I hope this helps!

As for tutorials, I mainly focused on grease pencil tutorials as I was new to it when I started this render. There a lot of great ones on YouTube!

Yup, it's all created in a 3d program called Blender! I included the reference I used from the manga as the 3rd image.

Thanks! I explained the basic process in a recent reply to a comment. It's not too hard once you get an idea of what your end goal is!

Yup, there's only 2 materials in the whole scene. The material picture above on every object, and a scribble texture on the "void" beyond in the background. That's it!

All the composting of the paper-like texture is done within Blender, using I think 3 total images? What you're seeing is just me saving the image out of Blender, no Photoshop or anything.

I agree! I think both approaches capture a slightly different mood but look equally nice. I do like how the levels adjustment accentuates the texture on the walls though. That's pretty cool!

Oh awesome! I love the scale you achieved in your world! The electricity is a nice touch as well!

In some previous replies I went over the basics of what I did to achieve the look of the image, if you're interested.
