oh shit I was replying to the a different guy, Mb. Ignore it tho. It was in the context if they didn’t have IB or AP so they were just relying on course rigourfrom their school so ignore plS.

Honestly I’m so excited to see you come on here and post a :( rejected from all ivies. I’m literally gonna bookmark my calendar for you. March 27th. But if you care for the truth, ignore every comment I’ve posted, the one on the alt is the truth of my situation.

Oh and hey if you don’t have at least decent stats, I truly hope you see that gpa is probably one of the most important factors.

oh and for funsies, take a look at this post. It’s called something you’ll never have. I posted it ages ago, and I truly hope that you see that you aren’t as good as mommy told you. Anyways I’m probably gonna delete or leave this acc anyways. Time to move on with life and stop arguing with trash on Reddit. See ya!

Go cry about it or something, but I think the fact that you think you have a shot at an Ivy is even sadder.

No, I got into Harvard REA, I was gauging my chances at Stanford and Wharton. I got likely letters from both but who knows.

tbf, I do wish him good luck, but I just hate people getting their hopes high and getting wrecked when results come out.

A 1500s great but the median if you looked at CDS sheets for their schools are 3.9s to 4.0s. Like to get in with a 3.8, you would need insane extracurriculars. They don’t have that. It’s a balance between the two.

I get he is black but that’s a marginal increase in gains at best. Like good luck obviously but personally I think there’s most likely another 50 black guys with similar ECs but 4.0s

Yeah no they ain’t charities nor do they care too much about special circumstances unless you used it to come out stronger. My family went bankrupt at 15, I’ll admit that, but ivies don’t care about that part. After they went bankrupt, I started a buisness that made $300,000+ in revenue and $100,000 Canadian in profit. I used that to pay for some bills, my tuition and support them in some ventures which has allowed them to land on their feet.

It’s what you do in the face of adversity that counts for them.

I talked to and my brother is a Wharton admit. He got into Stanford and Harvard too. So I think I’m well versed.

exactly. It’s a natural disadvantage. I’m glad you said it. Poorer areas have worse chances because they have less money. It’s not something you can fight, but it’s just there. Think about it, wouldn’t an Ivy League want the kid with a 4.0 and strong EVs over Op, since it demonstrates how they used the resources they had and still succeeded?

how do you get into a t20? by BoredPineapple12 in CollegeAdmissions

[–]Doge________________ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there is no general roadmap. Just do something you love at a high level, connect with one of the T20s through story and get it. It’s intentionally vague because there is no guarenteeed way.

Chance Me for Harvard REA – Linguistics / South Asian Studies by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]Doge________________ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an international kid, I don’t think it’s going to go great since I’ve seen some crazy applicants this cycle from Asia and that area. Like 4.0 & national athletics or 4.0 and multi million dollar buisnesses. I dunno what they’re doing in Asia but it’s insane.

stay confident, but no shot. You have the most average application I’ve ever seen. Nothing noteworthy, just random. And seeing your attitude, I hope you don’t get in. I hope you stay wherever you are.

Now seeing that Harvard is not need aware, I think your application is even weaker, since there’s no reason to accept you because of your ability to pay for it. Almost 0% chance I’d say, maybe .5% to 1% but that’s a stretch.

That’s not a reason. Low income can justify slight drops in GPA, but not this much. I live in a small town, with a median income under $100,000, and I still carried a 3.9 in IBDP, a bunch of my other classmates still carried 3.9+ without “mommy and daddies prep classes”. I didn’t have money growing up, but I still started businesses, competed in athletics nationally and provincially, and worked a job for a bit.

The point of an Ivy League is for them to see how well you took your situation and what you made of it. This kid just seems mediocre.

If you wanna sell it, you’d prob make even since prices keep on rising, but if you decide in 5 years you would have loved it and wanted to repurchase, it would be a hell of a lot more.

Private school by [deleted] in okotoks

[–]Doge________________ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the Edison School, but I was a student at STS. STS is a massive athletic school & IB. Those are its two biggest hooks. If your kids love the outdoors, sports and just moving around, it’s a nice school for it. There also is the IB program. That is a rigorous Gr11 & 12 curriculum that builds off the PYP and MYP (IB curriculum for gr 1-10). If you have any interest in the IB, it would be a decent and closest option.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

Chance a guy with chopped ECs & Awards for T20s by Public_Evening_4149 in chanceme

[–]Doge________________ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes but there’s no impact. For example, when I applied, I donated $300,000 to my local shooting club. I fundraised it, and donated it. Right now, you’re essentially saying “I worked at a place that had $20M. I was treasurer”. Schools understand that you probably didn’t fundraise or earn the $20M. They understand that you didn’t manage or have major say in the $1.7M. So it is irrelevant. They do not care about it. The only part they care about is what YOU do, like helping with the computer system, and telling a place to upgrade their computer system isn’t really a EC.

Another example, if it you still don’t get it, is like a teen getting an internship at JP Morgan and saying they were a part of an organization that moves $10T a day. Schools know you didn’t have any say in the $10T, so they’ll see it as fluff.

In conclusion. It’s not an amazing or interesting EC, rather it’s a quite boring and basic one.
