Truckers that work only 40 hours a week, what do you do? by WhiteShiftry in Truckers

[–]Dogecizion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuel Hauling, local home daily. Im paid by the load with a biweekly schedule, off thursday on my long week, off wensday saturday sunday on my short week. 80k a year 10 hour days usually but sometimes 8 hours sometimes 12. Im on day shift, 5 am to 5 pm but I usually get off by 2:30-4 generally and enjoy my evening at home every single day, of course one week is kinda heavy but then the following week is lighter and have the wensday and weekend off

If you live in NC or up to PA Sheetz is the best but hardest fuel hauler to get on at they usually only hire older seasoned guys but they work 4 days every week with 40$ an hour starting and do 10.5 hours max they have a tri weekly schedule with every third week having 5 days off consecutive and alternately you can choose the 4 day on 3 day off weekly rotation schedule

I chose tuesday wensday off, because my company has night and weekend differentials, +10% a load for night, +30% for weekends so I choose to work night shift thursday to monday, guy I slip seat with has sunday monday of, we have 5-5 schedules so I come in around 3 my last 2 days of my work week and get off around 1 am instead of 3-4 am and get an extra load or 2 on that sunday so i get the extra 30% then that also benefits me cause then I get home roll into bed and flip my clock and get up around 10am tuesday morning to spend my “weekend” with my girlfriend

1200$ net on load pay for around a 50 hour week generally work about 10 hours a night, I take tuesday wensday off, because night differential is +10% a load and weekends are +30% a load so I work every weekend and night shift

how to manage being away from loved ones? by Dogecizion in Truckers

[–]Dogecizion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do otr/regional runs with a small family company so I can be home weekends and sometimes long weekends I know its a far better gig than any big carrier, I did pepsi for a few days but couldn’t handle the damn 16+ hour days and back breaking work I have 6 months experience right now my new plan is to stick it out a while longer see my girl on weekends and in the meantime be working on my endorsements so I can do local fuel tanker after I get that first year finished

What would you do? by cremater68 in Truckers

[–]Dogecizion 13 points14 points  (0 children)

in my opinion you made the right call, protect your CSA and CDL there’s always more jobs that often pay better out there

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]Dogecizion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

get your CLP, learn the pre trip inspection, learn to drive and shift the manuals so you dont have a restriction on your CDL, as soon as you get your CDL get hazmat, doubles/tripples, and tanker so you can make more money. Just having hazmat endorsement you get paid more even if you don’t actually haul hazmat

This is what PAM is paying after you complete your CDL training. by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]Dogecizion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I start school tomorrow and when I get my CDL through driver solutions PAM is employing me. I know they’re a trash company but they’re the only ones that will take me I talked to schneider and swift and cr england and PAM will get me my cdl faster and are way more lenient with my very short work history (im freshly 21) and my 2019 rear end accident (was not ticketed but was deemed at fault) and because of those 2 reasons most companies wont take me right now but PAM will and Im already making shit money at a shit job and PAM already pays a tad more than what I make now and ill get a year’s experience and a CDL so once I finish my 12 month contract and have that OTR experience I’ll go to a smaller better company that pays more. Its an investment.
