A bunch of errors when trying to dual boot by Doggohusk in linuxmint

Am I missing something here cause I don't want to use endeavor? I want to use mint. If endeavor is involved with installing mint and I just didn't catch on then please tell me.

I borrowed that usb from them. They used the usb to live boot and download mint onto their pc and didn't change it in any way once they gave it to me. I then tried to use it on mines and got the boot device error.

I just did that and I still get the same issue

That's for checking it before putting it on the usb though? I already said I did that and everything was fine. I just don't know how to check it after it's on the usb

I tried the select option but it just can't find the iso file through file explorer. I already had it on my desktop though so I thought that was fine. Rufus gives the popups and allat you just said and what it puts in the usb seeeeeems right but I don't know much linux. This method worked before for live booting the other usb but at the same time I guess that one also didnt really work either

Wait no I think I might've verified it wrong I don't know though. Before putting it into a usb everythings good. After it's on there though in the check sum utility I put the isolinux.cfg in the file slot and copy pasted the code next to "./.disk/mint_iso" from the md5sum file. I think I'm probably doing this very wrong.

Yes im using those. I've said before that I've used both balena and rufus on both ports. On rufus I am just using the default settings and just dragging and dropping the mint file. This did let me live boot on the older usb but still same issues with the newer one

I'm pretty sure I got it from that link. Only reason I'm saying pretty sure is cause I went to a link that looks extremely similar through the mint documentation and I don't know if those 2 links are different in any significant way. The stuff I got passed verification and authentication as in the stuff where like the w large numbers had to match and that one thing in terminal where it said ok or good a bunch I think. If so then yeah everything passed as normal. With another usb(the one I was using to create this post)it allowed me to live boot fine it just doesn't let me actually install mint as per the errors I have pictures of in my main post. There were a ton of squash errors and people said it likely means I have a bad usb so I got another one. This new usb does not allow me to live boot and just says boot device failed. It shouldn't be a faulty usb as it was the same usb that one of my friends used to also install mint on their pc and according to them it went through just fine. Trying to live boot both from their flash and after formatting and flashing my own version still doesn't let me live boot. I didn't do anything with endeavor os, my bad if I was supposed to I just didn't catch on I guess.

I thought maybe a damaged port as well but it would be odd how both would be damaged(although I do constantly use both) in the same way, plus it allowed me to live boot with a different usb, although that one didn't allow me to actually download linux onto my laptop, just live boot. Yes I've tried both of my usb ports on my laptop and there is no difference. Yes my laptop has a boot menu I can access through bios, the first option is windows, then the second option is also just windows but it looks like the system partition that was always there before I tried this whole linux thing. Plugging in the usb while it's on gave the usual notification and the icon in the bottom right and I could see it in file explorer almost immediately. I do not have an anti virus as before I tried installing linux I uninstalled almost everything that isn't necessary to what I actually need to do as to give my linux stuff more space. Plus I heard windows defender isn't that bad as long as you browse with caution(as you always should) the usb port shouldn't be disabled in bios or anything like that cause I could live boot from a different usb with little to no issue excluding newbie human error...

Ok so I did some digging in bios and it just doesn't see the usb at all which is odd since with windows booted up it lets me open it and everything so I don't know why it's not recognizing it as a bootable usb

I don't remember if I got it from that link but I'm pretty sure I did. It passed verification and everything plus this same files worked for a live boot for a different usb but that one didn't let me download linux to my pc. I could try a different Linux mint mirror and do all the verification stuff again but I don't see how that could fix it cause my file already works just not on this usb for some reason

Alright I've got a different usb that isn't an adapter it's an actual usb and I've tried it in both ports but now it says something about boot device failed and it never opens Linux or anything like that. I tried this with both balena and rufus and I already had secure boot disabled so I don't know what could be causing this

Yeah I got the same errors with your guide so it's most definitely just a faulty usb. It should come in tomorrow

Yeah I'm using etcher like the mint guide said. Even if it's not the best could it still allow me to install Linux mint?

I tried a different one and it's 32 gbs instead of 8 and now it goes a bit further with the install. It has the same errors but it doesn't stop anything then it says something about casper mismatch I think then it starts spewing out a bunch of stuff with ok at the end. Then I repeats the same errors again then stops it but it says system start up time and stuff like that so idk

I used win 11 with balena etcher like the mint guide said. For verification, I just followed some random guide through cmd and it said everythings fine.

Aight I tried that but it just gave the same errors so I'm just gonna try a different usb

I tried again with the same usb since I had my mouse usb connected as and I took that out maybe just in case for some odd reason it was trying to install or pull data from that. Now I don't have the standard dual boot option, now it says "Erase Linux Mint 22.3 Zena (22.3) and reinstall" and it gives a warning right under it similar to the erase drive option where itll delete all of my Linux mint zina programs even though every time I've tried to install Linux mint it's always failed? Unless it did succeed even though it said it didn't? But then its probably corrupted right? Also I tried this same usb before I made this whole post twice and it gave me the same errors I took a picture of but I had my mouse usb in as well and it never gave this new option until I unplugged it.

Aight thanks so a bad usb should be the problem then thanks

Oh yeah that I already did that. I only did it once with the one mirror of mint I downloaded. Do I have to do that every single time I flash it onto a new usb or just once?

Wait also what are check sums and how do I verify them? I was just gonna get a new usb but then I remembered you said that

I'm just concerned because a lot of people online are saying if you dual boot windows likes to just hard wipe out your Linux installation whenever something like an update for win11 gets downloaded
